OH GOD> THE HORROR!!!!!! People think BF1942 is good. *Turns around and pukes on the ground* WORST game for bugs ever. If you want a game like Planetside, but with maximum 30 maybe up to 60 people, then BF1942 is the game, but I warn you, it sucks goats balls.
BUT that's my opinion |

free but as good as a 30 bux game according too maybe 55 percent that has played it. And offcourse if u like teamwork and wwII action buy RtCW, I think it costs like 15 bux but isnt that old. but the best game I know must be Deus Ex, isnt new or expensive but the best game ever, 35 goty awards if it means anything. well thats my 4 cents

BF 1942 is ONLY good with Forgotten Hope or Desert Combat, the realism is ass (the mods change this, FH is WW2 realistic, Desert Combat is war with Iraq realistic.)
Deus Ex is the best from the bargain bin. In fact, best out of many games. TIP: Keep playing. You may be saying "this game sucks!" after maybe the second level, then the plot kicks you in the ass.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |

Battlefield 1942 isn't terribly buggy, though it has a weak AI. I play it on multiple platforms (high end PCs) and patch it, and it's fine. It has good mods. If your computer is on the strong side, you'll be fine. It has some built-in anti-aimbot and anti-wallhack design elements, and tight vehicular combat. The AI sucks, but you can still get an enjoyable, challenging game out of single or multi player mode.
Chrome is a great way to spend $40 (when it is released on Oct. 28). I can't say how I know, but the single-player story is amazingly fun, and I expect the multiplayer to draw the most hardcore shooter fans (and probably a few cheaters, unfortunately). To give you an idea of how much power it puts in your hands, you can set one button to activate multiple cybernetic implants at once. If you think Neo can tear it up, wait til you're firing 14mm explosive sniper shells in bullet-time at a vehicle that looks like a cross between a battlemech and an ATST. Yes, you can also pilot that vehicle if you want to. 100% recommended game. Savage is a unique cross between RTS and FPS. One guy plays the commander and looks at an overhead view like StarCraft. The other guys look at a FPS interface. The commander builds buildings and researches new weapons while the troops mine resources, help build structures, attack wildlife and enemy players and generally make the commander's strategy happen. It has good graphics, lots of weapons and strategical deployables and siege engines. It has a steep learning curve, but if you're up to a challenge, you will be rewarded. An SDK is planned which will allow some pretty intense mods. I'm fully expecting a StarCraft mod for it, which will allow you to play that Firebat or Ghost you always wanted to play. 100% recommended. Halo for PC. Very well tested game, great fun single-player mission. Only problem might be lag in big online games. Great graphics, not as many weapons as Chrome but still fun. Very stylish. Chrome is better, but Halo is a classic. Lineage 2. Probably won't hit shelves 'til Spring 2004, but well worth looking into. Sign up for the beta now and thank me later. Almost certain to redefine MMORPG games. Final Fantasy XI. Amazing graphics, don't know much about the gameplay. There's a benchmark on Fileplanet that tests your PC specifically for compatibility with FFXI. It's fun to watch. Could be great. Lineage looks better, frankly, but time will tell. Etherlords 2. It's a turn-based strategy game based on Magic: The Gathering. Nice graphics, lots of cards to make your deck from, lots of strategy. Good internet play support. Good potential for an expansion. Those are some suggestions. PlanetSide is great, but like beautiful blondes, sometimes one game just isn't enough (yah, I wish). Hope you like them.

Halo is not bad, but the gameplay can get VERY repetitive, especially the indoor environments. If you enter a complex, and you are in a room with a generic design, expect to be seeing alot more of those rooms, and I mean ALOT more of those rooms. I think Halo would have been better if you were accompanied by marines throughout the entire game. Then it wouldn't make you feel like you are so alone. That is one of the aspects of Call of Duty, I find to be so attractive to most people. There is only breif moments in COD when you are not with an entire squad, which you are soon re-united with. Halo can be fun, but you may get tired of it after a while.

BF1942 buggy?
I never noticed any bugs when I play...lol Anyways, yeah FH and DC are great, but I am not a big fan of EoD, I personnaly think its bad, chopper handling it isn't too bad, but overall its a pointless mod since Battlefield: Vietnam is out soon. |
