Me the massa? Heh, nah Sho-Nuff is da massa heh.
Its about to get really rough figuring out whats better. ATI is now doing the XT thing and all their OEMS are doing the SE thing. So we now have: 9800 SE 9800 Non Pro 9800 Pro 9800 XT Goodgooglymoogly. Then mix in some 128/256 versions of each. The 9600 is doing the same thing. And sites generally don't compare OEM versions often. But basically in that order from worst to best. SE prolly has 4 pipelines and 128 bit memory interface, b/c this thing is cheap like $160 cheap. The Non Pro prolly has 8 pipes, 128 bit. I would take a 9800 Non Pro over a 9600 Pro, but prolly not a 9600 XT. Basically the only real way to figure out performance, is by price. You really get what you pay for and the more the card costs, the better it is. The new 5700's aren't to bad either, so there are a ton of choices in the 150-250 range these days. |

normally i would say a nvidia card would be the way to go (yes, im biased) but nvidia's last set of drivers were bullshit. PS totally f'ed up and other games lost HUGE amounts of FPS. T2 for example, i typically get 60-90 FPS, depends on number of players, mod type, etc. with those lastest drivers though? 5-20 FPS. WTF?
My next card will most likely be ATI (damn you Lise, you've overtaken me) though my processor will ALWAYS be AMD ph34r t3h 47hl0n 64
