I usually prefer the grenades aswell. I did play with it a while tonight though, was pretty fun. The Rocket Rifle is pretty painful. Was able to put up a dang good fight with it tonight. I tried the the thumper on a tower siege. Was working great standing outside and bouncing nades down to the basement level and tearing em up. But I eventually people started running in and catching my yummy hot plasma and stacking grief on me. Now I know how the anchored pounders feel..

rocklet rifles are not too great i've only killed one person over 15 days and that was because i nearly killed him but the thing ran out of ammo and i ran into a bunker to reload then finished him. The thumper ain't fun for a real combat weapon because of low refire speed, damage to yourself and the way you have to angle it too not hurt yourself. decimator is alright never done much with it but i have seen people use it very good.

I did several experiments with the thumper and the rocket rifle last night. Personally, I found the rocket rifle to be more user friendly. It seems the autofire feature is a waste. You can fire all 6 rounds semi-automatic fashion nearly as quick as the 2ndy fire mode with much more reliable hits.
1 on 1 at close range I was eatting some folks alive with it. Just aim at the ground around them. Burst damage is enough to kill about any infantry if you keep a full magazine. I got in a habit of reloading regardless of how many unspent rounds I had when time permitted. Also, using some large rocks as cover I played tag with 2 lightnings, though not at once, and was able to kill both. Rookie lightning drivers tend to get wedged in rocks and trees while shooting. After it was all over and 466 grief points later. An all time high for me. Most of it was from people running in front of me while I was unloading rockets and they'd take one in the back of the head. More was from taking out a Deliverer that had wedged itself into a corner trapping two people. While it was trying to press them against the wall I blew it to pieces and apparently those it was trying to squish. All in all I found the rocket rifle to be more useful for most situations. The fact that it seems to have no range limiter is a plus. But, as they say, thats just my opinion. |
