You get the blue guppy by continuing to feed gold coin guppies. I think it HAS to be a gold coin guppy. If you turn it into a star guppy (via potion) it won't change.

I find it more convenient to get 30 star guppies and then load the bottom with star catchers. The income is ungodly.

I tried buying a carnivore but hes so slow that all the other fish get to the food first and he dies.
