My grandfather served in the Navy in WWII. He was a boat captain. It was a relatively small boat (sorry I don't know the name of it) It could carry either 50 soldiers or 1 tank. He ferried soldiers and gear across the Atlantic.

My grandparents were in eurpoe during World War II , my grandma's family was killed and my grandpa escaped from a concentration camp. Ive read all of Steven E. Ambroses World War II books and have a great appreciation for both war and peace and the men who served. Great Pics Squeeky
Edit: Thats the canadians on Juno in the pic above , the boats used to carry the men ashore where the higgings boats in the first wave , a few days later the occupation force came off the massive regimental boats like in that pic , the best pics in all of those would be the first waves going onto the beaches Last edited by Biohazzard56; 2003-11-24 at 05:13 PM. |

my grandfather was patroling okinawa and a japanese jumped out of a covered foxhole, or spider hole, shot him with a T-11 LMg in the back, my Granfathers squadmate shot him with is tommy.my grandfather lived. My dad has the t-11 in his gun cabinet.
