The 9200 is not the card yo want for PlanetSide. Overall price and performance the ATI Radeon 9600 pro or xt is the best, period.

HOly crap on a stick nooooooo Never get teh 9200. get the 9600 xt or 9800 xt. the 9200 is way outdated and will cause you problems.

I've been watching the 9600's on Ebay, you can get the XT a bit cheaper than from that store (but of course then you have to deal with doing the Ebay thing). It's hard to validate upgrading a video card and RAM right at X-Mas time tho...

Since we're on the subject and I've been having trouble finding anything worthwhile about it, with the 9600 should I be looking for XT, Pro, or the 256 Pro (which is similar price and appears to have almost no graphic gain).

Misc Info

there is no gain in preformance from 128 mb to 256 mb its been proven, i might see if i can find the article. The XT is the best of the bunch but the pro is stil nice, and that newegg looks to good, i may have to get one.

The XT because of its higher memory bandwidth and clock speeds handles DX9 operations like Pixel Shaders better than a Pro. I would say for not much more cash than a Pro, to get an XT if you have a choice. An XT will "last longer" than a Pro will since the XTs are the latest generation of card at the moment.

Also as the above poster stated, avoid 256 unless your going for it all and getting a 9800 XT and that is mostly because the 9800 XT doesnt come in a 128

Exactly. Depends on you budget. I couldn't justify the XT at the current price, so I got the next best thing, the Pro. And at that price you will not get a better card.
