Nightime is a bish to implement in any game. Some monitors are darker than others - what might be an acceptable nighttime light level to you, may look to me like I turned off my monitor, and Mr. Jones may be able to crank up his brightness so far that it looks the same as daytime to him (giving an unfair advantage).

I hate it when it gets dark as it is, the dark red and black of the TR and purple and teal of the VS blend in with the background of the terrain far too much as it is. I don't like having to go out of my way to determine if something is a target or not when I'm in a vehicle.

it woldnt have to be completely dark. Dusk might work. Although you woldnt need spotlights.
Think of it you are running up to the walls of an enemy base while dodging lights and sentries. Hiding behind the trees and working your way up to the top. If there werte night goggles or a flashligh. Should they go under engineering, or standard equip? |

They'd just have to replace that purple fog with the way things look during a snow-storm and that would be good enough for me. See picture in the link below.

Back in beta, there was a distinct day/night cycle. Night wasn't very dark but it was noticable. I'm not sure when that went away, but I also would like to see that return. Lights around the bases is a cool idea - and another than never came about was on/off switches for the vehicle headlights. As someone mentioned a long time ago ... "Imagine a stealth approch with headlights off for an armored column - line up along a hill and on cue everyone hit the headlights - sure would instill some terror in the enemy to see a dozen sets of headlights suddenly lighting up a base".

think of lasers which you can see for hundreds of feet. think of it, your behind a rock reloading your gun and look up and see 5 lasers crossing each other looking for you.
FREAKY!!!!! and when a base loses power all the lights should shut dowen inside and all go pitch black. Go through the tunnels with a light and sparks fying out of terms when shot whick light up the way. We need flashlights on our guns for that. that would be a nice christmas present. Haveing things turn off and darkening of the sky would universalize PS If anyone looking at this is a programmer for ps plz take this into consideration. WE ALL WANT IT!!!! I played everquest on release day--I was an Erudite. All the newbies were afraid of the night and huddled around the lit, guarded villa while it passed (90 minutes or so). I was disappointed that PS didn't have an acceptable nighttime.
