Here's the thing though. Writing (which this technically is) is a form of communication, and communication is supposed to share ideas. When you don't spell correctly or use improper grammar (and it really isn't that much harder to do it right), it says to people "I'm too lazy to bother to do things correctly, or I truly have no idea how to speak coherently"...now, if you're lazy, you probably didn't spend much time thinking about whatever you're saying, and if you're clueless on how to write, then people take you much less seriously. Doesn't matter if you came up with a brilliant idea, the perception is that you're not capable of it and people will stop listening before they hear your ideas.
The key to dealing with people who you don't know very well (which would be the vast majority of people on this forum) is to communicate clearly. It's amazing how many people will assume you know what you're talking about even when you're BSing out of your ass simply because you *seem* like you know what you're talking about. However, you really don't look like you know what you're talking about when you can't take the time to use English (or French or German or Japanese, what have you) correctly. Your writing is a reflection of you, so you always want to present as good of an image as you can...you never know what opportunities may arise as a result. Note: This is not a flame of any individual, I'm just trying to offer reasons as to why people should use proper spelling and grammar in a formal setting (Which this sort of is...we're not all peers here...if it weren't for this message board, I'd doubt there'd be a lot of association between most people) when they're trying to talk to people instead of their super k001 1337 speak. |

Slang makes you look like a dumbass. So does saying that you only talk properly when formal, which, its evident, that you dont do, being as there are near zero formal activities on the internet. Im tired of people who slack off and try to pass this "language" that they vomit all over forums and deem it as correct, where the vast majority, the folks who are typing in an actual language, are looked upon being "Tight-asses" or some other varient. I want you to do me a favor, right now, Homer. Go to school tomorrow, and land a swift kick in the crotch of your English teacher for not teaching you jack shit.
