The spider mentionned above is the black widow. Since it lays it's eggs it warm, moist places they have the tendency to get into matress's and the such. Four or five years ago in mexico there was an incident with those a 4 year old got 1000's of spider eggs in his mouth while sleeping in a matress infested by them when his father tried to feed him he could see spiders crawling in the throat. The child was saved at the local hospital with a small cut throught his neck after wich every spider was extracted with a small "vacuum". There was an amateur film at a movie festival I went to about that very story.

Anyways the black widow has enough of a potent poison to do damage to a human being. It's childer will technicly only eat what they have killed so once they have hatched they will try to find a way thru your body, wether it be by waiting for your mouth to open or eating throught your neck.

Ugh...

We don't have blackies in Northeast Kansas. Too cold, I guess. We have some browns though, they bite you and the poison causes your skin to die and rot. But it's real slow, it'll be weeks before it's something noticeable. And then they just cut the infected skin off and let it regrow, simple, easy solution. Unless you don't have anesthetics, then it sucks. But they're called brown recluses for a good reason, sons-a-bitches barely ever hang out around people, even if you're sleeping they try to stay away.

Btw, I don't think blacks do the egg-laying in the mouth or nose thing.

Fuck, I guess I didn't want to get any sleep tonight...

/me tapes nose shut and rigs some sort of filter system for his mouth.

I already hate spiders enough, now I am really freaked out. (wouldn't be so bad if my room didn't have at least a half a dozen spiders in it at any point in time.) Where in the hell did I put that RAID...

brown recluse = mean suckers; my mother's friend had one drop on her head on her way into the house once. duck's description is a little exaggerated:
The bite of the brown recluse is usually painless until 3 to 8 hours later when it may become red, swollen, and tender. Later the area around the bite site may develop into an ulcerous sore from 1/2 to 10 inches in diameter. Healing often requires a month or longer, and the victim may be left with a deep scar. Prompt medical attention can reduce the extent of ulceration and alleviate other complications that may develop. It should be noted that not all brown recluse bites result in ulcerations or scarring.

please note, only six eyes.

more information here.
