I agree. Which is why i think new weapons avaiability should be based ON certification points. If you want them to be more exclusive, they should just put the certification points moderately high. Say, 5 or 6. This won't be based on high level, as most people will still be able to afford it, but at a PRICE. A low level br 10 can still own a br20 with the new weapon, but it will still be based on skill. Just that you must sacrifice your Cert points to use new equipments.

Ok man what I just said (I was informed of this after I made the post) is quite similar to the merit program that the devs are putting into place. Terrible idea huh? Mm hmm I'm sure.

Whatever you do, a BR20 will have the resources available to him or her that will enable them to get the upper hand on a BR1. Not to say that give certain specialities and a bit of skill and luck a BR1 could overcome a BR20 in theory. (I say in theory because just by visiting VR you get to BR 3).
I dunno, I think these new merit things will give players something aspire to. If using a mossie enough gives you barrel rolls, and a young pilot sees another player do that either against them, or on their side, personally I'd think "Wow, I'd love to be able to do that." |

I just thought i'd bring it to everyone's attention that Post BR20 abilities do not, and will not exist in the sence that you see them. They are taking the form of Merit Badges. if you are skilled in a certain category (like flying), You will gain special abilities (such as barrelrolls)

I have an idea.
To expand on the CC element of the game and make it more alluring, add a new cave that opens from sanc once a day that holds a CERT Module. Put the zones to cave at opposite ends of the cave (like triangle style) with the actual Cert Module at the center. The Empire that successfully extracts the module and installs it into a cradle at the center of the Sanctuary receives access to all certs for 24 hours. Then the cave opens again........and the fun starts again ..

I like this idea, but instead of just faster reloads, throw in certian "upgrades" to a soldiers ability to use a weapon. example: 100+ kills = faster reload 200+ kills = faster draw / holster 300+ kills = reduces COF due to a steadier hand. Now these abilities are based on the kills one would get with a certian weapon over time, not total kills. I feel this would give people incintive (sp?) to stick with weapons they like. |

Merit badges blow big time. The reward for becoming skilled in a weapon class is that you pwn with it. That's the reward. To start adding abilities based on kills will really suck long term. Think about it a bit. I want to have my HA merit badge. I need X kills to get it. Fastest way to do that? Spawn camp. Yeah, at long last, we will get a reward for spawn campers. I can see it now, folks spawn camping tubes, without blowing them, just to get the higher kill counts.
Same goes with vehicles of any kind. Your flying over a base and can choose the ams with lots of grunts, or that MBT that is tearing up your troops. Which do you choose, help the empire or kill a group of newly spawned to increase your kill count and get that merit badge? If they want to change the game this way, then fine, we can revert to a FPS only and eliminate teamwork and tactics. The game is fine exactly the way it is. If they want to make it more exciting to veterans, then add more BR ranks so we can get more certs. Also, put in more content to keep the game exciting. Don't come up with something that's going to make the vets super rambos, thus creating an elite class. That's fine for those in the elite, it sucks for the noobs who will just get frustrated and leave. It is bad enough that CR4s & 5s have orbital strike (an elite weapon). Let's not further compound a bad mistake by adding even more elitie crap to the game.

How 'bout this...instead of upgrades being based on kills, give everyone the chance to put cert points towards said upgrades. Following the same setup I said before. The way I see it, some people are only good with one or two weapons, why not let them have more fun by being "better" per se. The only downside to this that I can see is people recerting every 24 hours to get massive kills with different weapons. Also, this can be incorporated into a post BR20 incintive by raising the max lvl to 25 and only after BR20 can you put cert points towards these upgrades. I don't know just blabbering, ya know.
