Yes I agree. No one is stupid enought to get into a fight and not choost a pistol over a sword.
But it just shows how legendary made Katana truly deserve the name of the sharpest, strongest and best forged blades in the world. If you can imagine before the invention of reliable handheld firearms, i would definately wish to have one of these in my posession for a weapon when needed.

I hate decorative weapons, of any kind......
Oh and about the bullets, people been saying they were probably lead or some other softer alloy. Be noted Katana's are made from Demascus steel, and those made by master craftmen can have up to 1000 folds, with a high tensile strength along the blade, and low yield. It was designed to take high impact on the very edge, remember these weapons were also mounted on long spears and used on horse back like extended swords sweeping the ground at around 40 - 50mph to impact with full armoured soldiers, horses, etc. Of course if they tried any sort of test on the flat of the blade its the complete opposite. You can easily break a katana on it's side, even by stepping on it. I won't be surprised if a steel bullet was sliced, let alone a FMJ, FMC or JHT which i understand as lead encasted in copper.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |
