Not only are they monitoring and recording your every keystroke, but they record messages sent from other email services to g-mail. Not only will I not be getting g-mail, i will block anyone who attempts to email me using a g-mail account. It's amazing what people will sign if you dangle a carrot (1 gig of storage) in front of their faces. [EDIT] Upon closer reading... g-mail is fucking SICK. Your constitutional rights mean absolute SHIT. Why? Because 2/3 of Google's use is based OUTSIDE the US. Meaning that a google server site placed in a country with no privacy rights allows google (or anyone else google decides to sell out to) to search all your emails for sensitive information. How many people have had a password emailed to them from a subscription service? Guess what? According to google that information is free range for anyone that either pays google, subpoenas google, or hacks google's storage database. [EDIT2] Wow, and i just read that big article from the Electronic Commision on the cookies that Google uses. Essentially google is making one huge spyware service, just begging to be used by identity theives. Last edited by TekDragon; 2004-06-16 at 09:08 PM. |

I bet Google will be the skynet of our times. Google will develop self awareness and then kill off the humans!
What would you even do with a gig of storage space for email? I'm happy enough with 100mb to stay with yahoo.

When one single identity theif infiltrates google's work base or one hacker cracks their server you'll have ALL your stored emails being poured over. Within 5 minutes they will have everything they need to steal your life. Hell that's assuming that goggle doesn't sell the information to someone, which is PERFECTLY legal for them to do since your rights don't apply in some countries. |

Face the facts. Google's contract is so full of holes it almost feels like a relgious experience signing it. |

Whatever. Google sure does make their g-mail sound attractive. But then.. Stalin was good at making Communism sound wonderful. There were people who walked right into communism with open arms. And there will be people who sign away all their privacy for a cookie (literally). I'm not going to convince those of you who already signed up. You've obviously decided that 1gig reward was enough to pay any price. I'm writing this stuff for those people who actually do think. Don't get g-mail. Place anyone who emails you from g-mail on ignore. If you message them back your email falls under the same standards as theirs: public property. |

Tell me, Gohan. Can you tell me what it was you signed when you agreed to use g-mail? I bet you don't know a FRACTION of the rights you signed away.
Furthermore i'm sure you have no intention what-so-ever of going to one of the MANY sites and viewing one of MANY companies/law firms/watch dog groups reports that analyze all the problems with g-mail. So, until you change from the status of "blissfully ignorant" to "willing to learn", then stfu and don't challenge me unless you can back it up with something better than "put on your tin foil hat". Fucking juvenile. |
