You haven't seen rape until you get into another tax bracket. I've got a friend who works in the oil business that gets bent over the counter and given it to by the government because he makes about $26/hr. Not sure exactly what his taxes are per pay period, but it's pretty ugly. I make just under 20k/year with my job while I go to college, and have approximately the same withholdings you do percentage-wise.

Mine depends. Here is the low down....
My old job, I worked as a Security Guard at a Pub. I made roughly $380 a week from $16hr (It's actually $480 for 30hrs but I think the boss ripped me off.. Didn't stay long.) My new job, same as a Security Guard, but working as a Bodyguard - VIP Protection (Yep doing it again.), . By doing 48hrs a week (Work, Consulting, Training. All paid), I earn $864 a week($18hr) or more, depending the hours. But! Due to GST Tax, I'll be deducted from $100 - $150. I swear it's kind of insulting to lose good sum of money to the tax. BTW - this wage is earnt in Australia.

Wow, sounds like Seattle's a good place to work if they pay that well. Which is good, because I'm headed there after college. It's a good-sized city, not absurdly big like LA or NYC, but not tiny, either. And the climate's nice.

Well, I'm not complaining in the least about taxes, especially because I know it's not going to get any better the older I get. My dad gets pretty generous exemptions and tax breaks on his pay check (being a government employee helps to a degree), but he still had something like $35,000 to $40,000 worth of deductions last year.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |
