They won't be out of an empire, they'll just continue to offer 30 day trials for $10 and bring in newbies to the game. And then they'll tease you into giving you a 10 day "Battle" reactivation.
I think that Spork did say something about them 'looking into the population situation' that might be in store for a patch after 2.8, but not 100% sure on this. It truly is sad, that this is happening. I have been one of the staunchiest supporters of this game and this community for over a year. To see all that it is right now really leaves a hollow place right now; almost like my best friend cheated on me with my wife. Some may say, "Hey, switch to NC if you don't like it." Not me. I came in as a Terran Republic soldier. I will leave a Terran Republic soldier. If it comes down to people in my outfit switching empires, that is your decision. It won't matter to me, because I will have officially quit by then and chucked my Planetside CD's into a blender and sent back to SOE. Just my .02 worth.

Well, first give us real incentives if we are underpopulated (and make these global):
Zero respawn time, no vehicle clock, no max clock. To heck with the BEP incentives (they just don't work). However, if your empire is at 40% and your zerging an underpopulated empire. Think of how much harder it will be with them insta spawning and popping out as many reavers/maxes as they can. It may not make things more balanced, but it would sure spread the pain to the overpopluated empire and give the underpopulated defenders a better time. BTW, TR is not the problem. NC have a pop advantage on Emerald. On Markov, TR have the advantage and it's the NC and VS on the receiving end of things.

I say give everyone a choice. Implement the patch, and the next time the player enters the character selection screen throw a warning pop-up that says something like this: "The next character you log in with will become the only empire available to you on this server. Characters from any other empire will be deleted from this server. You may still switch empires by deleting all characters and starting over." That's a bit wordy, but you guys get the idea. Probably gonna lose some customers with this, but it's the only realistic and fair way to do it, and people won't feel like they got ambushed.
Using the population percentage to lock people into an empire is rather communist. You would have to assume EVERYONE is logged in at the same time, and not on a crappy alt. They'd lose more customers doing it this way, imo. |

Let me preface by saying that I am TR. And only TR. Have been since early beta. Will be until I am no longer in Planetside.
That said, put a 24 hour timer on char sets. I have no problem with others having multiple Empires on one server. I do have a problem with being able to jumpship at the drop of a hat. Last night on Emerald I saw the TR pop plummet from 31%ish to 25% in a matter of 15minutes. Guess what? NC/VS pops rose by almost that amount. A fair amount of TR just quit for the night. I did. I say once you log in on a Empire, you play that empire for the next 24 hours. Give a 5minute grace if you want, but one empire per day.

Emerald is fucked up.
Markov has a bit of this, but it happens to every empire. TR and VS and NC have just abou the same following. So leave markov alone. Making these changes on emerald is fine.

Personally I feel that forcing people to make a decision on the Empire they are locked into won't help the situation - its like putting a small bandaid on a sucking chest wound.
The problem is not the people switching back and forth, that is a symptom of the problem. The problem is that the TR have something that drives people away. Maybe it is the weaker Max armors, the weaker AA, the perceived tank issues, who knows? But my suggestion is they find out why the TR are leaving in droves and deal with that.

We be Terran.
We be angry. We be angry; Devs won't listen. No listen on MAX's; no listen on tanks; no listen on population. We be Terran, or we leave. We not want our fellows betray. We want not, a Conglomerate server. We want; equality; equilibrium; balance. Give us back; old things as were. 'Buff' our MAXes; tanks. Incentives? Pathetic. We want power. We have none. We be angry. |

Ok, I had an idea...it may be lame, but it may work or not...but it just might, just maybe, get someones attention...
GENERAL STRIKE! With pop balance out of control on said server, why fight it. Just don't play on it all. Refuse to play TR on that server UNTILL the problem gets addressed. But you need to start a PR drive. Post it on every forum (yes that includes the OF) you know of that plays on that server. Get a campaign going. Force the issue. People on the other empire playing won't be happy about it...it may even be boring. And you'll have them mad (at either the devs or TR...but either way the issue hits front and center). Why do I care? I play on Markov, but pop imbalances aren't a major problem (as far as I can tell). But I don't want that happeing there or to another empire, even if its the NC Anyway, just another one of my crazy ideas...pay no mind if its too lame.
