In my experience it seems whenever manufacturers replace mobo's and stuff they feel the need to wipe the HD. I've seen it happen with Dell and Apple.

By far alienware is the WORST PLACE TO BUY A COMPUTER.
Even the cs kiddies are figuring out that a riced out case wont speed up your comp.
"OMG IT IS LIKE ALIEN TECHNOLOGY!!!"
I was planning on buying an Alienware laptop until about a month ago when I realised that they've really gone to shit. I read countless testimonials from people who are not only dissatisfied, but livid with the product and service they received from Alienware.

As a result, I've ruled them out of my quest for a laptop, and am being directed - surprisingly - to eMachine laptops from an array of desktop-building-nerds. The new one has 512 ram, 80gig harddrive, an ATI 9600 graphics card, and an Athlon 64 processor for $2,000 less than what Alienware wanted for the same thing.

A rule of thumb... Build your desktops and buy your laptops... Dell (suprisingly) makes a good laptop... My mom's is very nice, and its a lot better then our Dell Desktop...

But I'll say one thing here. Always been an Apple fan for years, but the Customer Service..... Well, they are by far, the worst chuffas the world has introduced.

And my Brother admits it, since he is an Apple Technician.
Did your mother get raped by Satan, or did she give it up willingly?

I'm a big fan of Dell's laptops, especially their new XPS mobile. Yeah, it's massive and heavy, but at least it stays cool.

You seem to amaze me. Though I heard better remarks then your life depended on it, don't quit your day job.

Anyways, Dell you pay for what it's worth. Thumbs up on Dell laptops, and their service is by far respectable. Best so far.

EDIT: Toshiba is good, their service is top notch, but unsure about Warranty.

The thing I really like about Dell's is, they have the option to buy the service plan that covers if you drop the laptop or spill something on it.

It's an especially tempting offer to go with Dell just for that, since I use the laptop on roadtrips and would be ripshit if it broke halfway to Buffalo.

When I booted it up I was supprised to have to give the computer all my information and set it up just like I did when I first bought it. I was even more supprised to find it boot up to a blank standard desktop with out any of my programs or files.

I called customer support and they explained to me that they wiped my hard drive simply so they could get a clean install of the operating system. I already had the operating system installed, and I am pretty sure replacing the mother bored with an exact replica is no reason to have to reinstall it. They just wanted to upgrade me to the latest version. (A free downloadable upgrade that I could of easly done myself with out loosing my data.)

Fortunatly I have a recent full back up. The only problem is I have never tested it before. This is the first time I have had to use it. I pray to god it works.

Fuck apple
They warned you (they should've said so when you were ordering the shipping box).
They warned me when I sent my ipod.
