I agree with you, but on the other hand, if your playing a noob, they aren't gonna have too much fun if they have just finished building their air strip and stuff - being the slow noobs that they are - only to get toally pwned by six Aurora's taking out half their base. Maybe they just want to play with someone of similar standards so that they can have a bit more of a fair fight. I know i enjoy close matches far more than ones that i own or ones that i get owned. I know not everyone is like that, and i know that there are a laod of people who only play noobs to get their stats up, but not everyone who DC's is like that.
Maybe you should try joining a tournament or ladder of some kind? |

Make a server, but put in the name "Vets only - No noobs please" or something like that. And I'm pretty sure Tek has me on ignore, so someone quote me or something. Or if possible play only unranked games, not sure if C&C lets you do that though.

Kalta, the problem with the posers is that newb smashing is ALL THEY DO. If they see that you have even a REMOTE chance of winning, they will quit. These people have awesome scores (almost as good as mine ) and they want people to think that they are the "best of the best" in the CnC community, yet ALL they have EVER played are newbs.
It makes it so the rest of us, who actually have skill, who have been playing RTS for nigh on a decade, become lumped into the "stat hugger" groups along with the REAL posers. The problem manifests itself most strongly in the "quickmatch" option, where you hit the button and CnC gets you a quick opponent. Unfortunately, I have to spend 10 minutes doing this (if im using my TekDragon account) because every time i load a game, the fuker quits, getting no penalty (because the 2 minutes isn't up). EA and all the other developers need to make it so that the ONLY place to view someone's stats is on official website. That way, they won't bother wasting the time looking up stats, cause even if the opponent is a newb you were just AFK for a good 30 seconds, and that's all most people need to get a healthy advantage. |

I like the SC: Pandora Tomorrow ranking system, where if you play against people with lower levels than you in ranked game, you get no points, and can lose points, so it encourages playing people with the same skill level, and if you leave a game, you lose points.

It's not a new problem: Look at Battle.net.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |

In CnC Generals, you can spend 50k on tanks and zerg me. I'll spend 5k on rocket soldiers and own ALL your fucking tanks. It makes it so the ONLY way to be effective is to use combined arms. Tanks, infantry on the sides, artillery behind, with air support as needed. My only bitch is the stat rating system and the posers who abuse it. |

The 3 sides to Generals (and the 12 sides in Zero Hour) are more balanced to each other than the TWO sides to ANY westood CnC game ever were. |

Personally im glad EA took over. Now all RTS games will have to not only create cool units, but they will have to balance them in the same way EA did - or the game will feel like checkers compared to chess. Oh, and Exo? I play quickmatch because it takes like 5 seconds to find someone. Even with the load times and the quitters I can get a game in anywhere from 30 seconds (first player i find wants to play) to 10 minutes (5 or so players quit before i find a match). Either way that's better than using the lobby's to make games. 1. The map is already chosen, no suprise. 2. You already know your opponent's side, no suprise. 3. It takes FOREVER to get a pro game started. Stat huggers are taking over the lobby too. |
