I can tell you a real horror story...but I'll just pass on it for now. Granted I'm married and have been away from the dating scene awhile...but....

No fucking thing such as "neuteral" or "good friends". Its 100% Bull Shit and then some. If your ex even so much has one bit of envy of the exchange girl....she will bad mouth you to her untill the cows come home. Your Ex WILL get jealous and WILL be a problem. If your Ex thinks the exchange student is nothing....then nothing will happen. But I can almost guaran-damn-tee your ex WILL be a problem....I speak with much experiance.

Triggar is right, your ex will make your life a living hell...

So either Mac the German and realize and be prepared for the ex' axe or just walk away. Also consider this, she won't be around for long and are you prepared for a long distance realationship? If your in for the short term, then the German is gone and you got a pissed off ex....which WILL lead to more complications....trust me I know.
