You ever play tropico early? Kinda in that same genre with that same sense of humor, tropico 1 was fun. Tropico 2 was fun with priates which has been proven to be almost as powerfull as ninjas.

Yep. Two was hella fun, building your island infrastructure and sending out boats on missions.

One was good, but dosen't appeal as much as it does after the second.

Fear my base layout:

The idea is that the door on the training room (red line) is guarded. That way I can wtfpwn anyone who comes in.

Plus, i've got the amoury at the back, so it can't get sabotaged easily. You have to go through the barracks and training rooms to get to the most vital areas.

not bad, I just made my barracks, armory, and training room like one big corridor. seemed to work ok. your layout looks much better though.

My layout worked a treat. I had a big lump of agents (7+) just stood at the high security door milling around. When they opened it, my 2 henchmen layed the smackdown on a few, and my mercs blew the rest away with their big guns

I also made about 3 level 3 doors leading up to my freezers.

I noticed the difrent door security levels didnt seem to accomplish much, i'd set a door to level 4 and they whouldnt actively guard it, which kinda annoyed me. Also any idea if theres anything to do with bodies in the full game? I'd kinda figured on something involving the kitchen, but im a cost cutting sort of evil genius.

When you set it to level 4, you need to have a space on either side of the door, otherwise they won't guard it.

EDIT: In the full game, I think there might be something you can put in your freezer to dispose of the bodies. But, not as many agents come. There was only that much to show the game off to people. There will be alot less in the full game when you start out. More agents will come when you acquire more "heat" from acts of notoreity.

The demo doesn't really explain what you should be doing. The demo also has far more enemies attacking than the full game, though this is because the demo would be so boring otherwise.

Anyway, in the game you're suppose to keep your profile low until you can whip out a doomsday device and be really evil and whatnot. To that end, there's something in the game called HEAT. When enemy soldiers and saboteurs enter your base, they snoop around looking for suspicious stuff. If they see a freezer full of bodies, an armory full of weapons, or guys training with guns or anything, they will, at the end of their time spent on your island, report back to their superiors, thus increasing your HEAT rating. As your HEAT rating rises, eventually the government the soldiers reporting your misdeeds belongs to will send in assault teams to take you down. If the assault teams don't work well they'll send in saboteur teams to sneak into your base and blow your shit up. If that doesn't work, or just once you gain enough HEAT in general, they send super-agents.

So the key to the game is keeping your HEAT low. How do you do this? Clever base design, and a good front. Hide your suspicious buildings behind lot's of security. When enemies come, tag them with a WEAKEN tag and your Valets will brush them down and straighten their clothing for them. As they get weakened through this, their awareness will eventually go down to 0 and they'll just sort of wander around aimlessly, as they'll be sure your island is just some resort and that there's nothing to see there. They'll then report back nothing, because they'll see nothing. Of course, your own Acts of Infamy will generate HEAT, too, as will any guys who manage to slip into your base anyway and then get out, or worse, break out of one of your holding cells and flee your island, so you don't have a free run. Also, weakening agents generates anger in them, so it doesn't always do enough to keep the good agents away.

And for the demo, hit Shift + Ctrl + Alt + D to enter debug mode. Then hit Shift + Ctrl + I to get access to more floor plans, including traps. Hit Shift + Ctrl + P to edit the island layout. Hit tilde and type 'money' to get more bling. Be careful though, anything which has no image when you try to build it will crash your game if you construct it, as it has no art present in the demo.

I tried it out last night, definatly an interesting game. To many damn agents show up but other than that it was kinda fun. The demo needs more toys tho.
