I did some research on the subject, and the information seemed pretty vague, but from what I have gathered I know that Ghandi was assassinated by a Muslim fundmentalist. I don't know if that means that he was shot, but one source described his death as a shooting, so I'm assuming that M. Ghandi was indeed shot and assassinated.
