According to the article Smedley says

In other news - early next year we will have announcements about Planetside Next followed by a beta. I can say this - it's coming along awesome. I can also say that the first beta testers are going to be current Planetside subscribers. I've gotten a lot of email from current players offering to help test the game and we're going to take them up on it.

Dont Email him asking for beta Access people. Just be patient and resub and play until more news arrives. it helps that i am a friend with him on facebook and on battle.net when im on wow or sc2. And yes it plays WoW From time to time. No Joke lol.

I fear this sentence. I view planetside as a "Tactical Combat FPS game". FPS action game screams 'frag-style' gameplay to me, and I was under the impression that this is the last thing existing and want-to-come-back players actually want.

Maybe it's just a poor choice of words....

Either way, considering the lack of information and how close we are to the release date, I think this game is not going to be of the scale of Planetside.
