I didn't mean any disrespect in comparing Planetside to real combat in Libya, in fact I was hesitant to even say anything because war is certainly not a game. I just saw how in Libya, the rebels were basically a disorganized zerg, advancing and retreating with no organization or reason....much like some battles I've seen in Planetside. Clearly there are huge differences, but it just made me think of it. Make sure you keep your head down and come home safe. |

in response to xmodum's post,
i'm an afghan veteran and also have had a couple chinese rockets whiz over me and land quite close.... but exploded why do you feel the need to post stuff about war on a video game website to compare to the comedy of what this post is? i laughed pretty hard when i saw him comparing libya to planetside in regards to the AMS's and everything. theres no need to bring the post down by talkin about real life experiences. dont be such an elitist The forums are kinda a place to relax, lets try to keep em that way huh? You're clearly in a place with internet and theres no reason to go around gloating about that, glad your safe though :P |

Ohhh shiz.
Wasn't trying to come out elitist or whatever that really big word means. Was just more stating why I feel in my own opinion video games arn't anything like real life shit. Glad to hear you survived Afghan, if I could still be doing the shit I'm doing now there, I would be there, Iraq's way different. Bigger threat of being abducted then anything else. |

I know Gaddafi's military organization is a joke, and Gaddafi needs to go. But I'm pretty sure (last year anyway) Libya is #2 right under Iraq in what country Islam extremists have come from. So since the rebels/opposition are even less organized, and we've considered arming them even more... this is bad.
Hmmm, if there was only a country who we've given weapons to in the past, and we later fought in a war, to prove the bad idea |

Islamic extremists are all over the place - most of them just don't act. No, let's call these subhuman pieces of shit what they really are. Terrorists. Most of the terrorists come from Egypt, Yemen, and Saudi. They don't come *from* Iraq, they go *to* Iraq. Iraq breeds "insurgents" because al'Qaida sent (or requested) a lot of people there to gain experience. Prior to the US taking out Sadam, there were no extremists in Iraq.
Say what you want about who the US backs, but the reality is that the US has historically backed strongmen who don't allow that shit in their country. That's one of the reasons why al'Qaida hates us - we prop up regimes like that. It's a double-edged sword, and when they collapse, shit happens. Al'Qaida wants to install theocracies like the one that ran Afghanistan. They want radical, extreme Islam - Wahabbi-ism. And they rail against us because we support people that are secular. Our reasons are for preventing extremism and for having a pocket dictator who won't attack Israel, but that's usually found in a dictator who doesn't practice, so Wahabbi-ism can't take root. The trick is, in places like Egypt and Libya they already know what a bunch of fucking cunts al'Qaida is. They've tasted freedom and they're not about to let some fuckwipe like Bin Laden and his smegma-licking cronies take it. The only thing that worries me is the government which comes to power. Libya, Syria, and Egypt all have an ax to grind with Israel - hopefully it will be a simple renegotiation of peace treaties, which is what I've heard coming out of the Egyptian corner. |
