I am also of the opinion going F2P is not a viable option.
Despite PS being the incredible game we all know it to be, I agree it is a poor advertisement for PS2. The game has a very large learning curve especially to get into it now. The game is also WAY past it's prime. If planetside did anything wrong it was showing people how great the game actually was. I got my friend to play but only because I sat him down and spent an immense amount of time showing him the ropes. PS is absolutely a cult game, so I say for now we leave it for the faithful. |

We all wish
But it just doesnt have the anti hack support it needs and I'd rather seem them spend $$ on PS2 then anit hack support. Sure all it would take is a GM to be online all the time to get rid of most the major hackers, but then you have all the COF hack bastids that can be more difficult to spot. |

I think it would be great to make the game F2P for vets that have subbed for years. Although I do not think this is a good way to bring people to get interested in PS2. The game is just lacking compared to modern games and will likely turn people away from the game.

No, but what giving PS1 vets free access does do is hopefully provide the game with enough people to play against for those people who are looking at PS2 and want to check out PS1 for the first time. BTW, there seems to be many new players in the game currently for this very reason.

Can anyone with an account that was previously subbed verify if this is true? Someone is saying they got 45 free days on the PS1 forums: is planetside 1 free to play ?

It can't be free. There needs to be something on the line.
Remove the monthly fees for those who already own it. Charge $10 for those who want to play who haven't bought it. That will keep out the hackers for the most part, especially after they're banned for the first time. |
