Seems awesome so far. Lots of changes that I think sound really interesting. The art style for most things is really rad as well. The developers look to be making something great. And the stuff that they're removing they've removed for good reasons I can agree with.

My issues so far :
1) Lack of Indirect Fire 2) Lack of freeform inventory 3) Lack of using enemy weapons scavenged from enemies 4) MBT's being single piloted vehicles 5) Iron Sights 6) Too many RPG elements being thrown into the mix (Buffing/special abilities/'+4 damage!') |

Planetside is my all time favorite game.. so naturally I was really excited when I heard about planetside 2. Since then I've been hearing about some of the changes that are being made and I'm becoming somewhat disappointed.
Put simply, it seems like they are trying to make the game easier in order to attract more players. This sounds fine on paper. More players, more fodder, more fun.. sure. But in reality, the easier the game is the less a very skilled player can express his/her full potential. |

A good example is the class system replacing the cert system. If I understand it correctly, this new class system will prevent players from having different types of weapons in their inventory at the same time. This most likely means your much easier to kill too. |

Strongly against OSK sniping and killcams. Kind of disappointed about weapon looting and vehicle hacking. Sad about losing things like entry/exit animations and role-specific vehicles, but I can see why such things were scrapped.
Really stoked about the graphics and art design. Really like the interaction with the community. Liking the sound of the new cert system, the territory capture system, the new flight mechanics. Shit, I'm just stoked that there's finally a Planetside 2! I just really hope they won't be afraid to make changes during beta if needed. I know some companies tend to treat beta as nothing more than a final bugfixing and balancing step before release. Higby doesn't seem to view it like that, which is good news. |

I am impressed with the game engine and some, (not all) aspects of PS2 are good but the ones that don't fill me with enthusiasm are as follows.
1) OSK snipers, Sniping in PS1 was balanced and not OP.... OSK sniping will be considered OP before long, the forum whiners will moan and it will be nerfed as is the case with anything moaned about by forum whores/whiners. 2) Cloaking snipers, together with OSK sniping will be considered OP, refer to above. 3) Liberator no longer a bomber. 4) Unable to loot or use other factions weaponry, (this was an ultra fun and satisfying) aspect of PS1 5) Longer able to hack enemy vehicles, a key omission from the cloaker's playstyle imo. 6) Iron sights? A few of these changes seem to be a case of fixing what isn't broken but I am waiting to see what the beta brings and what changes result from that. And hopefully the devs can sort the constructive criticism from the whining chaff and make what changes are needed to better the game. |

All the new stuff and changes being brought into Planetside 2 sounds good/bad on paper but no one can judge until we get a taste of the actual gameplay. So SOE, GIVE US BETA DAMN IT! But like others have stated - some of it just sounds disappointing, especially the changes from PS. I'm sceptical about this class system and the F2P aspect. Only time will tell though. |

I'm excited for the game but that is purely down to how much I liked the original. No footage released for the game has made me excited because it has all been pretty bad and SOE don't know how to make good trailers. The screenshots have been rather hit or miss, there has been lots of great looking stuff but there has also been lots of bad stuff.
I'm going to stay excited for Planetside 2, I try and show it to my friends and they say it looks crap. It's really hard to explain to someone why this game could be so special, that is up to SOE to market it to those people though. After hearing what the developers want to achieve with Planetside 2 I'm confident that their goals are what the fans want from the sequel. However I'm not confident that SOE can pull it off as they've had so many flops and failures in the past. I'm forgetting about their past with Planetside 2 however and will give them this one last chance. If this game turns out not to be great then forget it, SOE have let me down too many times in the past and I've given them so much of my own hard earned money. I hope they can do it, the game looks better than I thought it would though it needs improving in so many areas like the horrible generic character models. |

Plus, squad leaders imparting actual benefits to their squadmates? That's pretty big. Classes forcing people to draw something based on benefits and negatives rather than being supersoldiers? The demand for good squad composition and coordination is enhanced by changes like that. So not only is actual, basic gameplay going to be "harder" when FPS gods shoot you in the face repeatedly and you die like a chump in the air to guys who'd been flying planes in BF3 or WW2OL for years make a mess of you, but the opportunity for good squads to excel is even more significant. Unless you mean being unable to decide whether to bring an extra medkit or an extra box of ammo or something trumps all of those other changes. |
