That would be the worst possible outcome. |

1. Find the roster of PS2 development team.
2. Find a minimum wage numbers for California. 3. Multiply the wage by the number of devs. 4. Calculate the approx building rent. 5. Add the rent cost. 6. Calculate the conviniences costs. 7. Add them to the sum. 8. Add the expenses on food, furniture, digital equipment, internet, stationery and taxes. 9. Here's the cost. |

I would expect as an official AAA title from SOE I wouldn't be surprised if they had a development budget of $10-15M USD. The question is does Forge Light count as part of PS2's development budget or is it being amortized over multiple titles by Smeds. The other parts of this is the operating budget to cover wages, benifits, wage taxes both Federal and State, the monthly cost of money, site costs and the direct and non-direct G&A all covered in the project overhead forecast. Lastly and one of the things we haven't really seen Smed's unleash yet is the big dollars for a full blown lay the smacketh down advertising campaign fitting of the best AAA title to come out the SOE stable in a long damn time. It wouldn't be too out of line to expect the PS2 team had a total combined budget of $50M USD.
With the progress they are making in the time frame that has expired I think its safe to say that there isn't a cash crunch as PS2 was a fully funded AAA title. Now, Sony Corp. did announce a massive loss to the tune of $3.2B USD and the Playstation Network debacle and quasi lackluster Sony Music catalog does put the crimp on the P/L sub division known as Sony Entertainment. One wonders how long Howard Stringer will keep his C-Suite before he is given his golden parachute. |
