Planetside 2 Is going backwards.

Backwards, or forwards?

What is the difference between a Zerg standing next to a flag, and a Zerg standing next to a control console - personally, i don't see one. Either way you still have to defend your position.

Geeze, you guys will whine about anything. This really isn't a big deal. What's so different about covering a guy who is hacking a console than covering each other standing next to the console?

I spent this morning rolling in my Wraith jacking everything that would sit still long enough.

I will miss it when it's gone.

Well for me it's that you always had to have someone with a REK to hack anything. If you didn't you were pretty much screwed. But now you don't have to rely on a team member to start a"capture". Just stand next to it and you're already starting to capture said area. It's a every player can do now thing. Not a game breaker but one of those things that I just feel iffy about.

Do we push anything to capture it? Is it just sorta ours because we stood in magical gift giving spots within the base? And if such an interface within a base existed, what kind of designer would create a backstabbing base? "Oh, all those strange beings in the blue and yellow are dead...these purple fellows look a bit irate...better change the lights to purple and give them access to every function so they don't destroy me."

A 'stand here to win' area isn't something I ever liked in capture point style games, such as Battlefield. Go stand next to a flag anywhere in the world, it will never just switch to your countries flag cause you're next to it. Just seems silly.

One is a team who had the forethought and team building to bring the right equipment/skills to complete an objective, with all the pro/cons that comes with it. Including, many hours training together to insert that hacker.

The other is a bunch of people playing alone together that happen to be in range of the flag. Boom head shot.

From the front lines:

Grunt #1548: Sir, we can not advance?
Squad leader: Why not?
Grunt #1548: Sir, they have a door!
Squad leader: DEAR GOD! I swear the VS have all the good tech! Call in a specialist!

Later that day:

Grunt #1548: Sir, I have captured the entire base, by sitting next to the flag.
Squad leader: Great work unspecific grunt #1548. Glad we didn't need a specialist.

Quoted for Truth. This is exactly the point, being prepared and ready for anything. I remember driving all the way to a tower to capture it and forgot my REK; was my own fault. I wasn't mad at the game, I was mad at myself because I was the one who forgot it. And trust me, shooting doesn't work. I emptied a full box of ammo into one of those things haha.

I had a rek on 9/10 of my builds...

Anyone with a REK can hack CCs.

Honestly if you replaced the CC in planetsde with a flag that took 15 minutes to capture the gameplay would be almost the exact same. People already stand around the CC to defend it.

I"m not saying I like this better, just that this is not a big deal.

And you were that guy we could always rely on.I personally carried it on 2 of my builds which were both cloaker.Everything else was AV or AI.I just don't see why if I'm not prepared why should I be able to capture a base?
