Maybe it'just Star Wars Empire fanboism, but the design looks fabulous. Techplant design from the original was my my favorite and it seems to be keeping to a mark.

Yeah, hopefully the bases will support indoor fighting as well. That was one of the big features from PS1, and would be great to see it come back.

It looks cool. I don't see many places for infantry to fight in there. But, I'll hold judgment for beta. I think we may need to see a actual in game pic of the thing to get a better idea of the scale of it.

These bases are bound to have huge static defenses, right? I love me some gun turrets.

Just going by the size of the doors, I can't believe how small it is.I think we've seen outposts almost as big as this.

I don't have any problems with the visual design, but it's also not my favorite. I also know it's a concept, but I really hope they're bigger then that

Pretty sure there are no automated turrets at launch. Even engi turrets must be manned.

Looks like a dedicated air tower more then a tech planet IMO.

Not enough going on there. And seems relatively small for what a tech planet is suppose to stand for.

A little hint: The gates below are the vehicular gates that must allow a sunderer to pass through, with some distance above its roof. Now try and reconsider the scale.

EDIT: Am I the only one who finds that those gates are 2-times high as sunderer quite obvious?

Re: Tech Plant Concept

For one thing, we don't really have an accurate measurement of scale there. We can guess, but it's hard to say for sure.

For another thing, this is only the main structure of the base, like that big mushroom dome for the biolab or the big spire thing for the amp station. This doesn't include all of the other smaller buildings and structures that make up the base, nor does it include the outer wall.

If you took away the outer wall and courtyard of the PS1 bases, they would probably be a similar size. Bases are going to be a lot larger in PS2, but that doesn't mean any of the individual component pieces of those bases will be that gigantic. How boring would that be anyways, if every base was cookie cutter again like in PS1? The variation of surrounding structures will make each base unique, even if there are only 3 main archetypes.

I am still curious about the size of the techplant, but it's only going to be a fraction of the contestable area of any base it's found in.

Campare the size of the landing foot the alpha video.

And a remarkably similar looking structure in the distance here:

Yeah, I think that base is pretty big.

I agree. I was looking at that video you got the first picture from when writing my other posts, but decided that they looked different enough that it wasn't a sure thing. Clearly those side vehicle doors have to be large enough to let something as large as a sunderer through, which already puts the base on an equal scale with any of the main base structures from the first game, but clearly from those pictures, it's safe to assume it may be much larger than that.

And again, even as large as it may be, it will still only be a fraction of the total size of a base.
