So the hope is that if outfits become payed for then the devs have an excuse to develop some really good outfit features.

I remember this, I think I was in that conversation, too. Since this is such a big deal to me in PS2, I kinda hope this is how it goes. Though, I give the nod to those that believe there should be, at minimum, a base outfit setup that is very community friendly, even for a large outfits (and I dont mean to use the word "base" in a negative way).

I have to confess, I misunderstood the concept, and I probably shouldnt have... I envisioned a mothership as simply a really nice sanctuary-esque platform for outfits to have a "secure" and private area to stage and rest. One with a really nice view... (LOL), and a lot of flavor... Complete with visual terminals for viewing the strategic map, cargo sections that look like armor, aircav, infantry, etc. staging areas (for show, but cool) that tankers, pilots, etc., could "stage" in, for a bit of organizational flair... Perhaps outfit logos and selectable music... things that are motivational, and inspirational, but no real "power" per se.
Now, I'm starting to think the prevailing idea is that the mothership will be functional... Perhaps a source for orbital strikes, resource bonuses, focusable drop-pod launchers, Galaxy launch bays... stuff like that. So a mothership would, in fact, be a power item...
Well, either way, it will be an interesting beta... if the damn thing ever starts...
