great footage!

but the flamethrower is disappointing, if this is the final version
i was hoping for a slim long range stream that ignites the ground where it hits. this ps1-like short range cloud of fire doesn´t look useful at all.

For the flame effects: if you look at the footage from TB's night ops video, compare those explosions from the ones we saw yesterday on the massive air combat. I would imagine that the flamethrower either got or will get a visual upgrade in the beta.

For the distance: While I also would love to see a realistic approach to the flamthrower distance, I wouldn't be too disappointed if they leave it as a high powered short-range sort of weapon for clearing infantry as most current games do.

I barely used a MAX in the first Planetside but now I REALLY want to in PS2.

I think he said the flamer max was WIP. I too have never seen a game where the flame-thrower approaches realistic flamers. Would be cool to see it implemented properly and perhaps have a useful role in the game.

I'd love a long(er) range flamethrower, especially if the flame spread to fill a room when fired into smaller closed spaces. As long as it didn't do too obscene an amount of damage per second, I think it would be pretty awesome as a way to make enemies want to clear out of a room you were about to enter.

Awesome footage. Cool to see the MAXes even though they still need quite a bit of work.

I hope that they do remove the ability for MAXes to use jump pads.

Maybe they could have it where only Light Assault could use something like the jump pads, maybe altering them slightly to be a temporary overdrive for the LA jump packs, allowing them to burst forwards across the distance at high speed.

Then to replace the jump pads, do some sort of thing like the ziplines from the caves, only better implemented, more like the zip lines in the new Bioshock. Everyone except for MAXes could use the ziplines (infiltrators, engi's, medics, HA, even LA), while only LA could use the jump pads.

I think this would make the game flow a lot better and feel a lot more "right." Maybe I'll start a post in the idea section later.

yep, totalbiscuit really knows how to make informative videos! didn´t know him before, but i think there is a reason for his huge amount of followers and supporters

Needs more Bro Gun and VS crab walk. Freaking LOVE the MAXs and I can't wait to see more of them and more of PS2 in general. I agree with TB's videos being so much more informative than the G4 exclusive.

I hope those aren't the final animations for the TR MAX. MAXs should stand straight up, towering over the battlefield as Gods of Death and Destruction, not squating like he just can't hold it in anymore.

Other than that, they really do look great, <3 that the TR MAX has a full helmet instead of the open one he had in the Concept Art.
