Honestly, with everything that will be in this game and also just from everything in PS1. The console would be a mess. Also, i think the game play would be a lot slower. PC's biggest advantage in my opinion is being able to do things quickly, and knowing its just as easy for the enemy to get stuff fast and do stuff fast. Not having to constantly click the up or down button to choose your gear, then having to press O-O, or X-O to like have to exit out. Click-Click-go into battle, that's how fast it needs to be.
Now, I know there are a good people out there who could grab and go fast on a console. But its just not going to be the same as for PC users. Another thing I wanted to say is that IF they did come out with a console version, I don't think the quality would be as good. I think the PC version would have better care tan the console... just say'n. |

Some people are I think misreading the topic. The question is "how is SOE going to attract console gamers to a PC game, which is Planetside?"
We all agree that planetside 2 should be on PC only due to the limitations of consoles currently. However, there are a lot of console gamers, and how to we get them to play planetside? |

Or maybe you guys thought PS2 team should give console players decent PC rigs along with the free game? |

I have experienced that many people do not understand "a persistent world with hundreds of players". While planetside veterans understand this concept, when I try tell this to non-PS players, the first thing they say is: "well, how does this compare to [insert shooter]?"
I think we should immediately just answer that question. SOE should market Planetside 2 in a way so it immediately says: "You know CoD? yes? Well, multiply the number of players by 50, insert unlimited vehicles and explosions and there you have it." I just feel that players that have no experience in planetside just do not grasp the idea of it and we need to describe it more simple for them. Last edited by Gogita; 2012-05-27 at 09:53 AM. |

The answer is quite simply an impressive marketing blitz that would be wasted if it comes any sooner than 6 months from now. Now's way too early to try to convince people to get enthused about the game. If they aren't already, even a beta won't hold their attention until release if we're assuming it'll make a winter release. Trying to *sell* a game whose release is more than 2 months away is a waste of effort and money. |

The whole question is stupid altogether... Gamer is gamer, console or PC one and same rules of attracting them apply - Make a good game, that will attract people. True question is why wouldn't a "console player" be drawn to PS2 since it's a game with very unique concept atm (there's no rival both on console or on PCs that I know of)? Is more marketing needed? sure (in the future), but it's far too early for aggressive marketing campaign imo since we don't know even the date of open beta. Right now SOE should focus their resources on finishing this product not on marketing it. Last edited by Immigrant; 2012-05-27 at 10:17 AM. |

Eventually consoles will just be standardised Home PC's running propriety software and plugged into the TV, until then I can't see the "Console versus PC" argument ever stopping.
It's only the manufacturers of consoles that are stopping this from happening with the next gen of consoles. Until this #merge# happens, PC's will remain more powerful but overcomplex machines (to 95% of the population) and consoles will be one-mediocre-size-fits-all home entertainment systems for the masses. PC's need an image change (The #grey box sitting under a desk# can do everything a console can) and NEED more user friendly information for valid/recommended upgrade options. Consoles need to run on less exotic architecture and allow the use of more varied software (make them easier to cross-platform and introduce mice and keyboards to the general user). LOL @PC master race!
Here's the thing, gamers are reluctant to switch to PC because while console games are developed for the current consoles (lets say 5 years between generations), PC games constantly push the envelope as new hardware is available. Alot of the gamers I've talked to don't want to invest in a PC because it'll be "obsolete" in a year *facepalm*. I guess a PC is obsolete if you have to tweak the graphics a bit lol... Rather than have SOE run ads that might or might not reach their target audience, I think we as a community can be much more effective. It's up to us to recruit others to PS2... if each of us gets just one more person we've doubled our population. It's exponential growth from there! |

It's hilarious how the OP's username is Peacemaker but the thread he makes just is begging to be completely covered in rage and fury...
I'm tired of seeing these types of threads(anywhere), but I'll have to deal with it Honestly, most Console gamers from what I can tell are no better than a lot of PC gamers that play SPECIFIC games. For instance: play League of legends, and you get a bunch of idiots. Play a game like PS2/PS1, and generally, the focus on teamwork and community will keep people who aren't quite so mature away. Games like Rainbow Six Vegas also don't have CoD 12 year olds, because it's easy to die in Vegas as opposed to CoD (No dropshotting, sorry) |

After roughly 21 years playing games on a console I've finally decided to make the move onto pc.This was an easy decision after seeing footage of PS2 and ARMA 3.Hopefully I'll have the damn thing built before either of them come out lol.
