What is there to stop people from watching the coast? Assuming good weather, the draw distance is more than enough for players monitoring the coast to see you. I feel like the main point is having an area where you aren't likely to be spotted basically on accident or by sheer luck (notice I said "likely").

The terrain looks varied enough that sneaking infantry overland into the backfield should be an entertaining challenge. The complaints seem to be centered around not being able to get a galaxy in from the middle of nowhere. Is this really a problem? If so, can it be solved with excellent pilots flying NoE?
Personally, anything flying so far outside of the battlezone as to throw a stark radar signature should get Skylanced. Actually, just ignore the first paragraph. Playable Skylance and clear fields of fire, please. MmmmmmMmmmmm. |

Could someone please explain what people are talking about? I only caught the tail end of the stream.
Is this a 'Force people into a small part of the map, where the fight is though some stupid mechanic', or a 'You can't leave the island' thing? Because if it's the former, then that's just going to kill the game. |

It's making us wonder if we're going to be hit with restrictive flanking/sneaking despite the fact that flanking/sneaking is supposed to be a HUGE benefit of a large scale map game. Last edited by Stardouser; 2012-05-31 at 09:44 PM. |

Yeah I agree with OP. Having 'invisible boundaries of death' is really stupid in a game so massive. I can understand in BF3 where there is a limited amount of players, but in PS2 why restrict them? Higby says it's to prevent people from just chillin near the water, but why is that a bad thing? In PS1 from what I recall people did that but very few did, most people were interested in the hotspots and places that were actual useful.
If an outfit, for instance, wants to set up at a remote edge of the map, why shouldn't they be able to do so? The game becomes so linear when you have an empire attack in one direction. The beauty of PS1 was that you can go in a loop around one base and skirmish a base next to it without ever being detected.
