Spot lights on turrets would be a great idea. Engineers I assume will be able to upgrade the turrets. I would also like to see flares that get shot up into the night sky to light up area's outside the base like in war movies. Has anything been mentioned about flares?

What would be good is that actual shot fired from turrets emit light upon contact (bright explosions) so they would reveal the enemy you are firing at but you would remain concealed (turret status unknown) until your first shots were fired. Last edited by Immigrant; 2012-06-13 at 02:23 PM. |

For the people saying the spot light would give away your position and let the enemy unload on you:
Didn't se wee the turrets firing have quite a bit of tracers in the night during the E3 footage? Tracers or spot-light it all still points out where you are. |

Exactly. Base turrets aren't exactly meant to be subtle. They're meant to suppress the enemy or draw most of their fire, in order to help the squads on the ground to defend against less attackers, or to make a counter attack.
They could also be useful for lighthing up enemy aircraft so they light up and jump to the attention of your own fighters, and easier spotting for the turret itself to shoot it down. |

It's completely different, tracers are only seen after you fire and last only when you fire, spotlights on the other hand will be visible the moment you man the turret until you leave it. It is not revealing the position that is the "breaker" but the fact that spotlights will reveal turret status even prior to firing it, they'll alert the target that the turret is aiming at it and finally they'll make it easier for other enemies to aim at the turret all the time.
Honestly I don't care if this would be a cert and someone would be unintelligent enough to use it, however I would hate this to be a default feature for turrets. Last edited by Immigrant; 2012-06-13 at 08:51 PM. |
