Would be kind of hilarious if they made a server that had no concrete factions. Complete free-for-all unless you band together with other people. TR, VS, and NC all fighting against TR, VS, and NC lol. I like the PS universe the way it is though.

Am I the only one who thinks this game needs some sort of device to make it more interesting, you fight for three hours for a base and finally take it, then you uh,... do it again, if you lose you are back where you started if you win you just do it some more I want to like this game, but I feel as if this will turn me off almost immediately.

We don't want this hogwash in our game. It can't possibly get THAT boring, I've been playing PS1 since 2003, and so has most of my outfit. Your idea does not fit Planetside. |

when I came on these forums I was greeted by PC elitists and ignorance in an arbitrary thread pitting Dust 514 against PS2 I defended it there even though I had come to talk about PS2. I eventually posted this, because I thought at the least it would be interesting to some of you, but instead got you guys saying no...just no and saying it was a bad idea. you guys are assholes and I mean it blind, ignorant, and annoying assholes! What a wretched community if you don't blindly love PS2 you get eaten alive, I'm not sorry for pointing out this games week area and trying to start a discussion about how to fix it. F you guys

Come on guys, I know I was probably the one to start the "no, leave now" stuff with my comment, but let's remember it's called community. I DO think his idea is a bad one, just all around, but he did present the concept of not letting it get boring. </soapbox>
Ok, but back to the original thing of "I don't want this to get boring." All you gotta do is go look around the rest of the forum and look up just a few youtube videos on ps2, you'll see there is PLENTY going on besides just "attack a base, hack a base, attack a base, hack a base...." There's an entire resource meta-game that will be going on around it. Plus, this isn't gonna be CoD run-n-gun stuff besides that; the vastness of options for not only character customization, but strategies that will be available on the ground, with armor, with infantry, with air, and combined arms (meaning some or all of those aspects just mentioned). There are plenty of things floating around in the rest of the idea vault which we're discussing to implement in the game (most of it post-launch) to help it from getting stale. In closing I guess I'd just like to say, you gotta trust the PS1 vets -- that game took YEARS to get boring for most players, and even then consider the difference -- this was a Counter-Strike era shooter game with a population cap of 500 per cont and not NEARLY as much customization available; compared to this game which will have (mostly) larger continents, a more liberal territory control system, an entire resource system (which didn't even exist in PS1), better graphics, better gameplay, more players (400% increase in population cap!); and I haven't even mentioned outfits yet and what they're gonna do with all that and the possibilities available. There is some talk (and god I hope they do it) of, probably 3-5 years down the road, introducing space combat zones (thread here). There is SO much already going on and/or in the works it's almost incomprehensible. And honestly, if we start doing intra-faction wars, it will destroy all of it. Cooperation: out the window. That's not how you make a community-based game successful. |
