I don't know that a good trailer is going to be necessary for PS2. Just lay some epic music over the amazing footage that will inevitably come around once there are 1000's of people in beta, and let it speak for itself.

I'm none too worried about the cinematic trailer, which someone (cycle?) hinted strong at having done for Planetside 2. Why? The DCUO one was good, honestly o.o

Good point; that cinematic trailer is pretty spectacular. Remember seeing it for the first time and Googling the game shortly after. I quickly found it it wasn't a game for me from the gameplay videos, but that trailer certainly worked as intended.

Cause he was the only one who played it so how are they meant to act about a game that wasn't really on your Radar and you haven't seen?

They were 100% right on the trailer. I thought it was awful. Frankly everything about it was contrived, although the copy and VO's were the worst.

I was amazed that the original "E3 trailer!" thread was filled with fawning and praise. I would love for this game to do amazingly well, and that trailer is not going to help. Good trailers (especially if you're already excited about the game) should make your hair stand up - that one is just a cringer.

I liked the PS2 trailer, but it was primarily because of the footage. Guys standing in place shooting each other aside, it was just awesome to finally see a ton of troops moving all at once and see more battle footage. This was before we got to see the rest of the E3 footage as well, so it was really spectacular.

But the VO was pretty bad. I was too distracted to care very much, but I can see how someone who wasn't drooling over every second of footage would be put off by the audio.

I definitely would like to see some awesome trailers made for the game. Hopefully something that will go viral. I feel like that would be most valuable leading up to open beta or release though, so hopefully they get their act together by then. Of course considering that SOE apparently has a shitty track record with trailers, I guess I won't hold my breath on that one. At least the press for the game is very positive.

A CG trailer like the DC online universe one will surely sell the name. Maybe some short empire specific trailers that show the personality and traits of them would also help.

However I really hoping they do something like this with some similar PS music.

Let's b honest here, PS2 trailer owned pretty much most current trailer for a very simple reason.

Because it shows the actual fucking game, and not some CG-bullshit that may look totally fucking awesome, but is NOTHING like the actual game is later on.

Yeah, the whole voiceover thing was crap, but to be honest, they coulda been like "TR: DAKKADAKKADAKKA! VS: PewPewPewPewPew! NC: BOOM!" for empire-descriptions and it would've still been awesome.

Well, if you're a MMO expert or are going to appear on a 'show' commenting on games then maybe you do some research, they weren't interested and it showed.

When those two guys appears the change in their faces was telling, they were out of their depth imho.

To be fair to Gary, the voice over on the movie was really cheesy, tbh as are most trailers whether games or movies.

The TRAILER was AWESOME, the VOICES were aweful. The music pacing was incredible. SIZE. ALWAYS. MATTERS

I wish they could have had beta released before the trailer, because it really made me wanna play it.

The voices in the trailer were very campy. The same with some of there scenes were the players were all just standing around shooting each other. Some of the fan made ones here are much better.
