Because of the 10 hour downtime, i assume its quite a big upgrade. Good stuff. :>

Hardware means more than simply servers and it was network that failed.

SOE screwed around with the server pop caps last week and made the game unplayable for a noticable percentage of players,they then opened up old oshur which then pushed the system to the breaking point.

this "maintainence"wasn't scheduled so it isn't due to PS2 or SOE would have announced it a few days ago, not 15 minutes before it started.

Auth Server is up btw, you can get onto the server selection screen.
