Most people I run into either have a mid-range or high-range system, or a complete shit store-bought PC that doesn't even have a video card from one or two years ago. In which case, they could just buy a new video card and be fine.

PC gaming has been dead for many since this last console generation. Some will need to be gently ushered back into the fold.

One thing I've noticed, in terms of demographics, is that FPS players generally tend to keep current with technology over traditional MMO players. I know traditional MMO players running on 7-year-old stone age rigs; most FPS players seem to stay within 2 years of current tech or less.

I don't imagine that the demographic of PC FPS players PS2 is aiming for will be affected by strict requirements; the devs are already being pretty lenient by optimizing the game for PCs up to 5 years old, going by some interviews.

Yea i was made redundant twice. Didn't stop me being able to spend £150 on an upgrade once in 3-4 years (IE £4 put aside for each month). Not only that but the cost of pc components have come down a great deal. It costs me £50 to add an extra 8gb of DDR3 ram last month, when i got the original 4gb this thing had it cost me nearly £200.

I suspect the real reason why the upgrade cycle might have slowed down, is because games are being made for the consoles primarily. Its the one favour I think they've done for pc gaming, forcing devs to squeeze the most of the hardware because they cant exect their target audience to keep upgrading anymore.

Core 2 Duo was always pretty low-end anyway. They put it in eMachines.

You can probably get away with using a 9400GT if you are an Nvidia Fanboy or a HD 5670 if your an ATI guy. With at least Dual core and 3/4Gb of RAM.

I use a ATI HD5670 with a Athlon II x4 and 8Gb of RAM and i can run BF3 in Medium/High settings smoothly.

Poor student with a lower-end system reporting in o7.

If I get into a tech test or whatever soon (im EU based) i'll post specs and how well it ran at whatever settings etc etc.

We have only seen the game running on high settings.

Honestly since this is a PC exclusive it's going to be attracting PC gamers which will likely have a PC that can run the game.

I'm not worried about this issue honestly.

Well, if they can't make the game run on older PC's they aren't going to sustain a large player base so it's in their best interest to make it viable on lower end machines.

My computer is only 3 years old with a 5800 series card, 8 GB RAM and is a dual core system. No way in hell am I shelling out over $1K to get a new computer if this game doesn't run on a 3 year old computer built for gaming.

Everquest 2 repeat incoming?

You are being ripped off completely, you can get 8Gb of RAM for about £34,
4Gb of ram for 200? My god, scam alert.

Ram is so cheap these days you can get 4gb of DDR3 out of a Crackerjack box.

I do believe you will be able to run the game without to many problems, your setup seems to be a good representation of a mid range machine and that is the target that should be aimed at.
