I doubt that with every ounce of my being. Personally, I don't think that game is going to be half as great as everyone else seems to think. I think the game will do well enough to be called a "success", but all these people expecting the second coming of Christ are going to be let down.

In the reality that we all live in I have to go with NC at this point in time based on my relationship with what I believe is happening in the real world. Call me crazy but I fell in love instantly with the lore. |

I think if Sony plays their cards correctly they could make Planetside a very robust and profitable IP. I know personally I would be interested in books that expand the lore or maybe even a sweet CG movie.

THIS!!!!! This has literally been my dream game for 7 years, ever since I first played space battles in battlefront 2. I always though this would be awesome if the ship interior was bigger and there were thousands of live players to populate it. Up until I heard of planetside I didn't think it was possible to have more then 200 players in a server so I thought it would be years before a game like that came out. Now it seems like its entirely possible, tech wise, just need a studio willing to undertake the huge project. Hopefully one that listens to its community at least as well as SOE does. |

For planetside to make a fast buck and get big would need to make it on console but then again there other pc only games that have done well like WoW but it toke them while to get to the top but maybe im wrong.

As for PS2 being super big? I think it's possible. Lore seems interesting enough. But as far as science fiction shooters go, it's going to be really hard for a game to knock Halo off of that throne. |

All of the gaming marketing departments seem to like to produce trailers that have little to nothing to do with the actual gameplay. They usually overhype and under deliver in a very big way. |

Star Wars is just a stupid kids thing, It has like 2 good movies from the 70's and 80's but it's been run right into the ground.
Halo was the the first game to really let people go crazy with vehicles and large scale combat...the story is kind of all over the place, but everyone still loves it. Planetside is about a bunch of dudes who shoot at each other forever. It's fun, and because no one has ever done anything on this scale it might be the most memorable shooter of this decade in the way that Halo was the shooter of the last decade, but there isn't any story to get involved with and no characters to identify with. You pick a color and shoot at the other colors. Last edited by GhettoPrince; 2012-07-26 at 12:05 PM. |

That said, I have pretty bight hopes for planetside as an Ip, but fairly more realistic expectations than OP. 26 year olds with gaming PCs do not set pop culture trends as well as 14 year olds with xboxs, like I was when playing halo. |

Halo's Downfall was decided by Fate when it became Console Trash.
The Campaign of Reach was pretty epic - but how epic could it have been if the Series would have stayed on PC. "PC only" would have been even better. Star Wars got really epic and huge even more as it was when the new Three Episode's/Movies came out, with the Invention of the old Republic before the Empire and so on. R~eally epic. So while the Glory of Star Wars mustn't needfully be over, the Glory of Planetside is about to rise. It's time for a new, epic Story to shine. It's really sad for an PC-Gamer that loved Halo 1 so much that his favourite Game ended with Halo 2. All the Years only watching - and n~oooooooooow "my next Halo 1" is coming out. =P Bigger, better, faster and stronger as ever before. L~awl... I can't wait. It's Time that Halo bows before it's new Master, named Planetside... greetings, LV. |
