I'd put my money on a December 2012 launch.
Any features that are not ready at that point will most likely be cut and added to the post-launch schedule. SOE needs a fresh new product to generate revenue. EQ Next does not seem to be anywhere close to completion, and the rest of the SOE line-up is ageing rapidly. |

I would say they need at least 6 month to polish the game and release a minimum of 5 conts. Thats the point where the launch should take place. Nevertheless i am sure they will release an unfinished game ( 2 or at the best 3 conts) still this year.

People today seem to think a game has to be perfect before it's released. Lets just keep the game in beta, pull a Duke Nukem Forever and rebuild the game from scratch when the engine becomes dated. The only thing this game needs before launch are the three promised continents, and no game-breaking bugs. Everything else can come after release.
This game is going the soft-launch route. Anyone who has had any interest in the game has already had a chance to play it. These awful bugs that people like to blame for sharp declines in population after MMO releases aren't going to exist in PS2 because they already occurred (in beta). People have already made their opinions of the game (regardless of the 'beta' label) and have either quit or continue to play beta. I'm sure SoE likes to think there's going to be a giant influx of players when the game finally does get released, but unless there's a huge marketing campaign, that's not going to happen. I'll do my part and tell everyone I know about it, but it's not going to be like most MMOs where the majority of first impressions come on the launch date. |

I'm honestly not worried about the texture quality(just make sure you play the game in High or Ultra..yeah I've played Crysis and Gears of War in max setting before. And seen enough of Skyrim texture packs) and blurryness(have seen dozens of PS2 footages..in some of them the graphics was very crisp and detailed without fog) that much.
And well... to capiqu, Mox, and The Kush... great wishful thinkings there. |

So many MMOs take a year or more after release to really come into their own. It takes more than internal Alpha and a few months of beta to fine tune a game this complex.
I'm not worried. I have SO much fun in the game already. All I need is my outfit, a microphone and mumble and I have more fun than I've had since PS1. I already get the only thing I really cared about from PS1. Huge coordinated operations. My outfit already fields a full platoon on raid nights and it feels just like PS1. Planetside took years to get to where it needed to be. I'm willing to stick with this game for the whole ride.
