CCP felt forced to include mouse and keyboard in Dust 514, because in spite of popular demand for the game to come to PC, they chose to make it a Playstation exclusive. Planetside 2 doesn't face that same problem and should therefore remain controller-exclusive to keep the gameplay balanced. |

I don't understand why everyone is so up in arms about a console version of PS2. Using a mouse and keyboard is better than a dual shock controller, but even this generation of consoles are moving away from that to things like game-tailored controllers (think the instruments for Rockband and steering wheels for Forza) to flat out not needing a controller at all and using the likes of Kinect. For all you know, people playing PlanetSide on playstation 4 will be doing it by pointing actual guns at the screen while we're still stuck using a mouse and keyboard. Who has the disadvantage then?
Regardless of the situation, I don't see PlanetSide 2 for PC starting to be dumbed down. Its been developed for and released on PC first, so you can stop worrying about it being a console port. If it ever makes it to a console, it will be a PC>console port. Doing it otherwise from here forward simply doesn't make any economic sense, and Sony isn't exactly flush with cash right now. The only negative side effect if SOE making a console version of PS2 that I see is the allocation of developer time away from fixing bugs and polishing content to re-creating the current bugs on a console. But long-term, this would only add to the number of voices calling for tighter anti-hacking monitoring, bug fixes, and content expansion, and gives them a bigger financial incentive to make that happen (larger potential and familiar customer base is more easily converted to happy paying customers).
