I would support some sort of commander mode as a leadership cert for platoon leaders. You'd have to have a certain amount of experience as a commander to use it, to prevent everyone forming 8-man platoons and calling in OS's everywhere, but I'm not sure how it would be limited. BR won't work - long-time players don't always make good leaders. Possibly use of the mode would be dependant on holding a certain rank within an Outfit. So, what could the commander do?
-Launch surveillance drones - an air vehicle that has a camera pointing down, but is steered from the ground, so the commander does not have to be in it. Because of the limited camera range, it is easy to intercept and bring down as its user cannot see incoming aircraft.
-Call down supply drops - targeted on the map. Similar in appearance to a instant action pod, these pods deploy to reveal an infantry terminal. The vehicle has to be destroyed to disable it.
-Missile Strike - targeted on the map. Available in HE, HEAT and napalm varieties
-Orbital Strike - clears everything in a ~15m radius. Those killed by the strike cannot be revived. FF on.
These abilities would be linked to the commander's resource pool, so the commander would have to weigh up their personal needs with their leadership role.
