Re: SOE removing the tactical aspect of camouflage, good or bad?

The entire point of camo is to conceal yourself and confuse your opponent long enough to get a edge in the fight, not announce HEY I'M HERE, SHOOT ME! If Camo is not concealing your character then what's the point of even having Camo at all?

I'm here to enjoy a War game, not NASCAR where we all flash our gay pride faction team-colors. "Hey look that's the M&M Harasser! That one has Yoda!" That's -exactly- the direction the games going if we abandon the tactical purpose of Camo.

Why even bother having continuity and respect for the war we're playing? If we're seriously considering doing away with the tactical asset that Camo is suppose to be then lets take away the restrictions and add funny hats into the game or other stupid BS that take away from what the war on Auraxis is suppose to be.

I love Stealth, Long Range, and Tanks. Complete and utter Bullshit if you think Camo doesn't work with Tanks, that stuff is all that's effectively concealing my tank from a casual glance of Aircraft when I'm completely vulnerable, so much so I encourage proper camos in my Outfits Armor Division. Camo caters to players who's play style is Stealth, In my experience that means Sniping or sneaking through and around a enemy zerg undetected, Taking away the Tactical purpose of Camo hurts this play style heavily

TL/DR Whats the purpose of continuity or even Stealth in this game if you give up on the tactical assets of Camouflage.

I think the new camo applications look pretty cool. I guess its just a visual thing for me.

Honestly? I don't really give a damn.

As long as they are not using this to sell us something else like an additional camo slot i'm fine with it. If that would be the case though...well, yeah, i would get back on that topic. And not in a nice way.

Overall i never really had a problem with identifying enemies using camos and enemies don't seem to have a problem identifying my completely green vanu babe. But i can understand that it can be viewed as something dancing on the fine line of "p2w", so yeah, removing the "tactical" aspect seems fine to me.

With respect to the infantry camo...

I think most people are just upset because they think the full-body camo they previously bought... that mostly just obscured their faction and made it harder to identify friend/foe in run and gun combat... and wasn't really used for concealment or anything along those lines... could be less effective.

I understand being upset. You bought it to gain an advantage and that advantage may be less... but I don't think it's anything that will hurt the game and might make it better.

Can't say I'm all that thrilled about the change.

No fussed really. I never believed I could hide behind a scrub and be invisable but the camos did go along way in replacing the bland stock ES uniforms.

For me, it is purely a cosmetic thing.

I keep seeing the same pics for either VS vehicles or the Gal. What, if anything, is going to change in TR and NC vehicles? I haven't see one thing for them yet.

This.

I like the visuals that the game has in terms of camo. I like the fact that you can fully kit yourself out for the situation. Taking that a way feels a lot like SOE taking away something arbitrarily, especially as camo has worked fine for a year or more.

Does anyone have any better comparison shots? The magrider there looks like it has some added armour or something.

There's practically nothing in game to use for cover/hide as it is (neither for tanks or infantry), and now the only thing that can be used for that purpose is being removed?

Not liking the idea.

As a side note I should mention that its harder than ever for me a red/green color blind player to tell the Vanu from the NC infantry now.

well actually I don`t even care whether camo are full coverage or half coverage or something, I just wish that, after spending 20$ on some in-game items, they would make my characters look cool and pretty. From the changes they`ve done so far, can`t say it`s happening.. that`s pretty much why even though I do have some camo in stock I`ve never used them on my characters, since they would just make them look silly, nothingelse.

I'm still bothered that they lowered the resolution of the camos to 256x256. People submit 1024x1024 to player studio and they get rather blurry when shrunk except for the most basic digital and blot pattern designs.

Has the purple on top of the Scythe always been as prominent as it currently is and why isnt the rest of the purple on other vehicles the same?
Even the color of the stock gun on the Scythe doesnt match.

Hopefully they change everything else on the VS to match this.

My words too!

I lost the count of how many of my outfit members didn't fired at a tank and the reason was: I thought it was a rock! Normally with the giraffe camo.
It also got me, twice that I can remember.
Love when they rotate Indar warp gates, because the only time it can use the white sand camo is when we have the north warp gate of Indar. Everyone agree I look awesome on that camo.
The principal motive that made me get the Bahamut mask it was to increase camouflage coverage. I use it with all long range weapons.
I still use the white with black dots against the NC on close quarters, still make some of them confuse about friend or foe.
Camouflage has almost no effect against the VS and I TK a lot of TR using the black scales camouflage, also noticed that they are the lowest priority targets during engagements with the VS.
Also on my outfit we have a rule (actually we got several), open fire on luminifier vehicles first.
The second is, don't engage the PREY galaxy, it is a Trap! But it is not related to the topic.
