I assume it was the words "around corners" that confused you there. But there are corners to shoot around outside too, like the base walls.

Bassically, all empires can make equally good snipers. The only diference is what that sniper is doing while not sniping. Choose wichever empire has the coolest weapons that you can use for backup at times when sniping isn't possible. You may be a sniper but you still probably carry a Assault Rifle

It's very simple, you shoot up, over the base wall/rock and guide it down again. Or out a main base entrance at an angle, to hide yourself from view. You shoot it around what your hiding behind, and then correct its course.

There's stories from beta testers about skeeters being shot down by phoenix's, despite every effort they made to dodge it. I wouldn't underestimate it.

Sniper is the same with all empires.

As for the cycler, shotgun, gauss. They arent going to be that hot at range
