Just curious, Im not trying to whip out my E-Penis and scream "HAHAHA MY MOUSE OWNS YOURS" im genuinly curious as to what kinda mp/s a "Dual Optical Mouse" gets

Well it's got to 800dpi optical sensors, for a total of 1600dpi, personally I have never heard of a mouse having megapixels per second.

All i know is that i went through a "I need the l33t3st mouse known to man" phase a year or so ago, and after trying out a few diffrent ones, a friend of mine at infogrames suggested i get one.

The thing that I noticed about it imeadiately was that when I was trying to line up a shot there was no more of that frustrating "pixle skipping" that some mice do. Where it seems to jump several pixels at a time. This thing will line up perfectly with whatever I point it at.

What the hell. I trust Oed, and Preator Vong so if they tell me this is the best mouse I can get for gaming, then it must be

As you can see, My mouse has 4.7 mp/s, And 800 DPI, Wow, Dual optical has to be sweet, I still love this mouse tho

Note: It took me 10 minutes to line up my webcam straight enough and get a nice shot thats not blurry

I found an article where the guy compares the MX500 and the Dual Optical, and from what he's saying yours beats mine out by a slim margine.

Tracking Prowess
The MX-series mice are named for Logitech's new MX Optical Engine. Among the improvements made to the optical sensor are increased image processing power (4.7 megapixels per second), a larger sensor, increased framerate, and increased resolution (800 DPI). To be honest, the MX500 didn't feel any smoother than the Dual Optical or Microsoft's IntelliMouse Optical, but if you are moving from an older optical mouse, you should definitely feel a difference.

I was annoyed that the MX500 wigged out on the two mouse pads I tried with it. The cursor would jerk up and down if I moved it over the "WingMan" letters on my Wingman Gaming Surface. My other mouse pad has a photo of a forest in the fall and the MX500 would be confused at seemingly random moments. It was especially annoying because neither the Dual Optical or IntelliMouse Optical exhibited this problem. Using the mouse on the fake wood grain of my desk "solved" the problem.

Having a comfortable mouse in my hand leaves one less thing to worry about when I'm trying to enjoy a game, and the MX500 certainly provides such. I played through most of Medal of Honor: Allied Assault with the MX500 and it was every bit as good as the Dual Optical in terms of accuracy and precision. Aiming for the head is the fastest way to dispatch enemies, and as long as the framerate stayed above 30 FPS, I was fairly accurate.

The extra buttons were very useful; I assigned them to often used actions like "use" or "reload". Of course, this requires you to use USB Overdrive or remap the buttons in the Logitech Control Center.


Final Thoughts
Logitech has consistently designed top quality optical mice and the MX500 is another step in its evolution. The optical engine has been improved, the ergonomics have been refined, and more buttons have been added (although the placement of some of them is questionable). I felt the Dual Optical was the best mouse at the time I reviewed it and I feel the same way about the MX500. Some might argue that the MX700 reigns supreme, but I enjoy not having to worry about battery life or other wireless devices interfering with my mouse. It's hard to imagine how Logitech will try to outdo themselves and I can't wait to see what they come up with next.

No way, cordless is teh suq, adds weight, and besides, my mouse bad has an attatchment that hold the mouse cord so I never have to worry about it, and batteries are teh suq, too.

I scraped my MS Wireless Optical in favor of the Dual Optical with a cord. If you ever want to be fucking pissed off when your mouse skipps 10 pixels and you miss that life saving shot, get a cordless mouse.

I'll be lmao as I send you back to the spawn tubes with my corded mouse.

erm, no, cordless does beat corded

what was the weight have to do with anything? it's not like you have to lift it continuously or something

and about the batteries, i had the same batteries in my cordless for 2 months before having to replace them, it's really nothing big

My MX700 cost the same as an MX500. I went to best buy planning to get a 500, but found the 700 rebated down. Woot.

Anyway, cordless rocks. I just slip it into the charger cradle (NiMH) every night, and I like the added weight--feels solid, substantial compared to the hollow core of my dead intellimouse (RIP). I haven't had a problem with the gaming precision of the MX700, and Tom's Hardware seems to confirm that it is one of the first cordless mice suitable for gaming.
