Ghost Recon, while some people cup 'o tea is a perfect example of why the game needs to be fast pased. Ghost Recon is the worst FPS I have ever played simply because you can crawl on your belly for 30 min to sneak up on some guy just to have him blow your brains out.
That's just not fun at all. It seems that you think because the game is fast pased it will always be cowboy Tribes 1 stlye of play, but I doubt it. I think it'll be more like SoF2 where the action is extremly fast paced, but if you think your rambo your gonna get owned before you know what's going on. Let me also explain the penelty people get for "Bailing Out of a Galaxy and letting it crash" 1) Your bound to the base it took you 5 min to fly over from. 2) It takes X min for the piolet to be able to get a new Galaxy 3) The entire squad of idots that just jumped out are all dead before the base is taken. So add it up.....Your at the base, you have no plane, and no way to get back to the fight. I'm sure people will be doing it all the time. |

OK, GR was a horrible example, I love that game but I hate it equally. Now I play sof2 constantly, (Look for me) and if that was the gameplay that would be uber. YOu get crouchers and campers all day but doesn't slow it down too much does it?
I do disagree with your steps though, if that galaxie pilot and crew are decent fighters, theyll last long enough to make it worth it. What you are suggesting is that the galaxie pick the guys back up and retreat and heal, I don't see that happening. I think it's just a matter of principle.

The best game to compare this too in my opinion is battlefield 1942. It's not as complex but its got your basic 6 classes, planes, AA guns, Tanks, jeeps, APC.
It's not fast paced but it's not slow. you gotta be quick and accurate. But were missing the sense of teamwork in BF1942 but I still remain confident BF1942 is basic framework for planet side. SO if you feel like your shitty at first person shooter's and you need to get skill's (not like me I've been hooked on FPS since 1991) you should look into getting the demo for this game or just buying it. Should satisfy your taste for blood until planet side. Just don't end up like me violence is a god damn addiction to me. I can't watch a movie unless something blow's or their's some action going on hehe

I would have liked prone also but regardless of how one feels about gameplay there is a graphics engine issue also. The grass and shrubbery in PS seems to be only visble close to your character(in screenshots you never see grass in the distance and you can see greenery "appear" in one of the movies). Someone prone behind some weeds would have there own vision blocked while they would look like they were in the open to someone a 100 meters away, sort of like an ostrich with it's head in the sand. I'm not sure quite why they did it that way but, hey, that grass does look great.
Anyways, crouching behind rocks and stuff gives nearly the same effect as prone. |
