It's beyond me why some of you freaked out over this... It had been stated MANY MANY times that existing players would get first access to the beta.

Hi-Rez said that vet Global Agenda players would get first access to beta... then they sold beta access. I guess some of us were just expecting to get screwed ;p

No I believe the active army is like that, but the Guard is all based on slots. meaning we can have only so many E-5's. Promotions are actually a lot slower in the guard because when your up for a slot, your going up against everyone in the state the same rank as you, its super gay because a slot will open up then all of a sudden some jackass from across the state will take it lol. I will be one of the youngest Sergeants in my units history and I haven't actually been a Specialist long enough to technically make Sergeant, I am being wavered in because I am the most hooah E4 ever

This is true, however as much as I really like the Planetside 2 team and how much they communicate with us - SOE has a reputation for murdering their own games with long, pointy things.

I don't think any of us would have been that shocked if old players weren't given prio. Upset, angry and raging, yes. Mildly surprised? Possibly. But shocked? No.

Just the way the industry seems to be.

Funny thing is they said last year that we would get beta in Q1 of this year. I think I even remember hearing March once.

A lot of GA vet players were invited during the alpha, several months before beta started.
