Been looking into Planetside 2 while waiting for my new comp and figured I'd look at the outfits. Hoping to join one that works as a team and this one seems promising.
There is one minor problem though. No mic (not just me living here and my room mate is in the same room pretty much 24/7). That means I'll be able to listen to orders but not be able to confirm if I've accepted them or not (Though it's probably safe to assume I have). I'm big on teamplay though and am hoping that this minor con won't get in the way of the pros. Since I'm interested in joining and am already handicapped I'll list what I'm looking for as a team player. I'm looking for a team where surgical strikes can be planned. Using flashes to reach destination to hit soft targets, boarding a Sunderer that's parts of a convoy, coordinating attacks on one side of a large base while another team hits from the other side. Seriously, anything to do with team play and you can count me in really. Been gaming for a looong time (ever since I was five. Twenty four now for the record to get the age out of the way) so even though I haven't actually played PS2 yet, I have played game somewhat smiler to it (not to mention watching vids). Though admittedly, the closest game I can think of is battlezone 2 (in terms of getting to vehicles at least). Teamplay wise games I've played are Brothers in Arms and Full Spectrum Warrior (not quite as coordinated as I'm sure this will be but looking forward to it). *Adds a pro. Likes to play. A lot (it will make sense as you read on).* Another plus is that I'm on the comp. A lot. And once I'm done having the biggest game orgy of my life when the new one gets here, It's quite likely that I'll be playing this game more and more often as time goes by. Wouldn't look like an honest bloke if I didn't post some cons, so here they are. Limited to 40 gig a month. Hopefully not a big deal, but I seen people saying they use 1.4 gig in 4 hours (yikes. Hopefully that's not true) yet others saying they use around a much lower number. I'll do some research on that myself once the game's on and check up on how much is used after a gameplay session and get back with the numbers. If it's high (which hopefully it won't be), it's going to put me off the game for fear of overshooting and paying money I don't have. I have a feeling things will be fine though and am hoping to get a good 6-8 hours in on some (perhaps even more then some) days. Case in point, I like to play. A lot. Which I should really put as a pro. Another con that gets in the way of gaming is the same as with any other people. Life. It has to come first and, as with anyone else, might take a sudden hit where I won't be able to play. It's much less likely to happen with me though, especially to the point where I'll be unable to game. Though if it does, do try to understand and bear with me while things get sorted. And of course, no mic. Though I can still hear and see the text on screen. Obviously that might not be ideal a time (when you're under heavy fire for one) but I can communicate through that (I'm assuming this game has whisper and outfit chat) and communication is key. I can't help it if I have to sacrifice the ability to use my voice due to a room mate that's in the same room 90% of the time. Another con is that I'm not a pro player. I repeat, NOT A PRO PLAYER! However, that does not mean I am incompetent and don't know what I'm doing. I know very well what the controls are going to be like (while on the subject, I do like to drive and prefer ground to air) and I consider my gaming skills to be average at worst. Hoping the pros will outweigh the cons and I'm looking forward to working as a team player. If I am accepted, I'm hoping to get my feet wet with some surgical strikes at soft targets (I'm the guy that likes plans) before moving on to harder targets and throwing myself in the warzone. Edit: My gaming time tends to be past 8pm and my location is England (Manchester) though it is not uncommon for me to game throughout the night into early hours of the morning (although, with only 40 gig a month, if I'm going to game into early hours on an internet game, I'll get on later). Could you provide links for the application and a download for TS (assuming you mean Teamspeak)? I had a look around on the forum and couldn't find an "Fill this forum to apply" section which is why I posted here.
Also, how much would TS use up in terms of internet usage per hour? I can't imagine it being much, but I do need to monitor the internet usage. I won't be getting that computer 'till Tuesday at the earliest, so I won't be able to get on PS2 'till then. I'm guessing you want to see if I can back up my words about working as a team player. Just to clarify I won't be able to talk myself through teamspeak due to my room mate being in the same room 24/7 (talking in real life is more distracting I suppose) but I will be able to adjust the volume on teamspeak while still being able to hear what people are saying. While on the subject, he sleeps around 11pm at which point the volume will have to be even lower. Hopefully I'll still be able to hear well enough, but if not, listening hours will be anytime before 11pm. Edit: Saw the link. At least, I'm assuming that's the link you meant. Thought you was talking about an application on this site. Edit 2: Going to wait 'till Sardus gives the green light before doing anything due to the circumstances. Ultimately, it's his decision. Just posting to say that it's not that clear on how to apply. Both me and Wvlfy had to stumble around a little. A simple notice of saying how when making an account on the TRG site could rectify that (That is, a note that states what section of the site to go to first without stumbling around wondering where the make thread option is).
