1207-2011 - Coincidence or hidden easter egg?

Makes sense for them to hide it in a picture. I'm sure they have something planned for that date, if they were to officially say such, then missing the date due to delays it would result in a tsunami of "wtf matt, where is the shit you said was coming on 12-07-2011" mails. By hiding it they can just deny it if they miss the date, and in the mean time it gives nerds like us a date to circle on our calendars. Good eye to everyone who saw this (not just the guy who thread posted about it).

Yeah, anybody that was lurking the forums here when the Producer's Letter was like 1 week late and saw all the screaming and clamoring (myself included) would take that as a sign that SOE might be conservative about announcing a release date.

Very cool find. It does seem to early for a release, perhaps that's the date they're shooting for with beta?

I find it strange that I haven't seen anyone consider a few things yet.

1.) From my understanding, they were attempting to release/beta PS2 around Spring time this year.

If they were attempting to go into Beta this year, they've got a large majority of the game flushed out. Presumably the new team would break open and address some specific things and add a bunch of new features, but not to the extent of a massive rewrite or anything.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were ready for beta by December.

2.) When looking for a finishing touch for the gun one of the artists could have easily selected a loved ones birthday to attach to it instead of a random number. I've seen this happen plenty of times.

Of course, everything is speculation.

From the large picture I would say it could be 1207, 1227 or 1237... The 2011 though does make it interesting. It does seem to be possible that it's a date they intended for us to find... And having beta start at 27 December does not seem like a bad idea overall...

The zeroes are strike through zeroes. They look like 2's because of how grainy the image is. If you need a better look, for chrome at least hit ctrl and + to zoom in for your browser.

It could be a special date they're planning something big (they did say the game is further along than the teaser led us to believe,) or it could just be a random number and we're reading a lot into it because we're desperate to have more info thrown our way. Info dissection periods seem to be roughly 3 days to a week before watchers froth at the mouth and go mad from info withdrawal.

I recall reading we'll have a weapons list "soon" somewhere but for the life of me can't remember where.

Did this and I'm now totally convinced they're strike through Zeroes. So the date is 12 07 2011. That is basically a date right there, no doubt about it.

I get what you're all saying and it makes a lot of sense. Someone needs to tell T-Ray that we all expect higher resolution textures in the game. Right now they're not high enough.

Also if you're curious why people are confused I ran it through some filters and it's really difficult to tell the numbers because it's ambiguous with the pixel combinations. I'm not even sure what font that is.

U1-1207-2011 would be my guess also though. Putting slashes through the zeroes is fun.

That's what I see, too. Looks like UI (Unique Identifier) 1207 2011.

In any case, I'm going to get a big cherry pie to celebrate the occasion, and on the 7th if it turns out they don't drop any new info or announce the beta, I'll still have a delicious cherry pie to enjoy.
