That's not what I'm talking about.

Notice the difference with the boots and upper arms. My crappy photoshopping aside, this looks better to me, while Mr. Soldier there retains full mobility of his knees and elbows.

You must have been a cloaker then.

I'm not sure that's a point so much as a low-polygon curve, but either way it looks less silly to me.

Yes sir I was! Haha. When I switched to NC I became more of a Combat Medic/Engineer but yeah I was a cloaker for years on TR.

The modification you made to the boots looks good, however the modification you made to the arms would make it impossible to raise your arms, hold a weapon, or even aim a weapon.

As you can see, the bicep piece is limited in motion by the pauldrons and chest piece, heck it'd be funny just watching someone trying to walk with that on. Sure it looks cooler but it doesn't look practical by any means, or very comfortable.

I don't think it's as close to the body as you think it is, if you look at the depth from the front of the chest-plate to where the armhole is in the original picture, but that's irrelevant. The shoulder area and front-side width can be modified as needed, the point is getting rid of the weird gap at the elbow.

Edit: Better?

Yeah that looks a little better. This brings up a good point about just how many options they can create for vanity items in the shop. Different chest pieces, under shirts, pads, etc.

I really hope we can customize helmets cause the vanu infil and heavy assault looks ugly. Would like the option purchase different helmets.

Oh for sure, the possibilities are almost limitless, but I don't feel that warrants the defaults looking weird in places.

Someone brought up a good point earlier (I believe it was Bags) who said

Not that the armors look bad, just I'm sure they'll have tons of cool customization options available. Already stocking up on my Station Cash I get monthly from my All Access Pass Subscription.

Didn't some of the first screens show different helmets or no helmet at all even?

Yep, they also have a bunch of nice images in the April PC Gamer article that show variances to armor colors, weapons, and helmets.
