Looks like an older concept of our current Gauss rifle to me.
I don't see the purpose in having a Punisher in game if we can already install a grenade launcher on our weapons. Essentially, we can remake the Punisher, with the Cycler/Gauss/Pulsar as the base design. Must remember, what worked and/or existed in Planetside 1, we shouldn't always expect to make a return in Planetside 2. I'm not even convinced the Suppressor or AMP will make a comeback, as I suspect we can trick out our handguns to perform much like PDW's/SMG's. The other extreme would be revolvers. Glorious revolvers. |

Second, we know the Prowler concept art is OLD, the model is done and fully textured. That weapon? Probably old and discontinued as well. Let's put a little thought into this. The Punisher existed in PS1 to be the rifle with the under slung launcher. In PS2, that launcher is a modification for your ESMA. What would be the Punisher's purpose now? To be the piss-weak in all categories gun? It would really only work as a "jack of all trades" 100% neutral weapon. No strengths, no weaknesses, though that would defeat SOE's intentions of further cementing the empires as separate entities. Oooh... here's a thought! Cash shop guns are all constructed by Nano-Systems Inc. |

The punisher had slower RoF and its CoF increased really fast in PS1. I think there was also more damage degradation over shorter distances.
If you could customize a weapon to be almost anything in its class, I agree that the question of "do we need a Punisher" is valid. Maybe it will be more specialized about using that grenade launched (e.g. no reload after each grenade from the attachment). Or maybe it will simply be an attachment by default so you wouldn't need to choose between X, Y, Z or the grenade attachment for your rifle. You'd choose betwee X,Y and Z and get the grenade stuff on your gun anyways. |

Unfortunately, we don't have that info. If we have a Punisher in game, I like to imagine it would be the cash-shop variant weaponry we've been told about. Using a Punisher, they could justifiably manipulate the stats in any way they wanted to sell the weapon they want to sell. It would also streamline the cash shop. They wouldn't need a selection of weaponry for each empire if they wanted to keep cyclers TR only for example. |

The prowler looks horrible. Why would you ever place a cannon anywhere else than on the middle of the tank. Rolling nc for this probably, used to be a tr.

It's costs you 5x to install a nade launcher on your gauss. The Punisher comes with one for free. That's enough reason for there to be a Punisher.
Also, the AMP is the best gun for cloakers in the whole game. It better be coming back.
