I'm secretly hoping that more responses are like yours so I can pretend to justify spending $$$ on my new build.

If i get a new rig (computer is fairly old and will give away) and moniter and station cash it'll probably add up to around £1600.

Thank dog its free to play... lol

Good god man, how are you even browsing the internet with that antique?

I haz a laptop, it can run the Witcher 2 on High and it cost me $800 shipped with a five year warranty, I know how to build a good desktop, but they aren't practical for me right now so I'm stuck with a laptop >.>

If I find a way to upgrade it, I would get a better video card (currently have a le crap 540m), and maybe a solidstate drive just for certain games, probably something small.

I've recently spent 1150 € on an all-new rig (based on an i5-3570 and a GTX670), but it wouldn't exactly be fair to attribute that cost to PS2 only. My old machine is 3.5 years old and doesn't really run some of my other games as smoothly as I'd like (PS1, Global Agenda, Natural Selection 2 Beta). It was just time for an upgrade anyway. PS2 only affected my timing for that a little bit.

I'm also going the 3570-K + 670 route. It seems to be the popular build at the moment. I hear ya when you say the new build isn't just for PS2. If/when I build my new rig it will be a huge update for me for everything (Editing software, gaming, etc).

PS2 is definitely the kicker to get people going on upgrading/buying. I bet most people are saying "well I really need to upgrade for my graphic design work and it just so happens that PS2 is right around the corner... might as well upgrade now!"

I am not spending a cent upgrading and I only have mediocre specs:

Intel Core2 Quad Q9495 @2.66Hz
4GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285
Asus Maximus Extreme motherboard

My plan is only to upgrade when the next generation of consoles hits the market. When that happens I will fork out for the best hardware I can buy, thus making sure I have a great computer for PC games for a few years, and way beyond minimum specs for any console-ported game for the next 6-8 years (until the subsequent generation of consoles after this next one is released).

My gaming rig should already be up to par and I believe my girlfriends computer is as well, she won't play the game but it will be nice to have 2-man LAN sessions with friends.

I'm also considering getting a second gpu.

My build:
i7 2600k @ 3.4ghz
gigabyte z68p-ds3
570gtx
125gb samsung 830 ssd
2tb seagate hdd

I'm tempted to install PS2 on my ssd which currently only has 70gigs left on it. If the size of the client gets out of hand I might want to upgrade my ssd to a 256gb one.

EDIT: Oh, and dropped money for 5000 station cash on the 4th of July.
