Bro, anybody can get dogtags made for a couple bucks. You earn your Eagle, Globe and Anchor, but I don't see anything wrong with novelty dogtags. My wife had a set made for my daughter with my picture on them while I was in Afghanistan. There's nothing wrong with that use of them, nor should there be any issues with novelty ones. Just think of it as a necklace shaped like a dogtag.

I was never in the military, but I got a set of dogtags that I wear with my name, emergency contact info, and medical info on them. I know bunch of people that do that.

Earned? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it an obligation to wear these for any soldier going out? Not sure how you could "earned" them except if failing to join the marine/army is what you meant...

Also, Not sure why you are proud of you dog tags. They are nothing else but an ID in case something bad happen to you. Making fun of them might be a bad thing for some people but really, according importance to these is really missplace.

Be proud of yourself and what your brother did but not of the dog tags. Those pieces of metal mean absolutly nothing except what's writen on it.
